Spotify is based on listens, not purchases as the chart used to be. For example, I bought a lot of albums in 1995, possibly more than in any other year, but definitely listened to "Jagged Little Pill" and "(What's The Story) Morning Glory" more than many of the others. OF course, those two were massive sellers, but I personally only contributed 1 sale to each, not one for each time I listened to them.

Not keen on his music anyway, but also slightly biased against him because I find that artist name utterly infuriating.

I called it, the hype is so real for them on Radio 1
Btw I have a theory about Sound Of, it’s just a way to fill the quiet month where there isn’t much new music, Radio 1 can talk about it every evening and play songs by those acts and Fred Again uses it to promote a new song last night. And tonight it will be all FLO with them in the studio.

Congratulations to the London-born stage-school-educated FLO. I'm sure they deserve their award on merit and it wasn't the result of massive bribery to the "tastemakers" who are racist torwards anything outside the M25.

FLO's music is so outdated, their first singles sound like they are from early 00's. Don't like them at all. I even switched of the radio every time when their first single was on. And the fact that they haven't charted yet even with heavy Radio 1 support proves for me that they don't click with the public. So surprised BBC still tries to push it so hard. Surely Fred Again deserves to be #1 as the most talented but of course he should be Sound of 2022, not 2023. As for me I would name Nia Archives as Sound of 2023 because I think she is the most original artist among the suggested list.

Has Nia Archives had any chart success yet? I saw her in and out top 100, I think.

Hello Serge! I'm always here, just not posting much. Music charts have become so dull...

Has Nia Archives had any chart success yet? I saw her in and out top 100, I think. I've searched for 'Nia Archives' in the chart section and nothing at all comes up in any of the Singles Chart threads. So really I think she's no more worthy than FLO are, and that you just prefer her music

Hello Serge! I'm always here, just not posting much. Music charts have become so dull... Good to hear you are around, and I hope you will post a little more, maybe in the dance forum with Kres, or some photos of your trips in the photography forum? But you've already posted 3x as much in 2023 than you did in 2022
