Think he ended the season on a run of defeats, so maybe a bit of booing at the end of this game, and he thought I'm off, I can have the Plymouth job back in a fortnight or so... I find it odd that so many clubs expect to be challenging for the Premier League, when really it's about mid table and then look if you can crack on. Unless you bring momentum like Ipswich did, most teams cant compete with those ex prem teams because of their parachute payments. And just in case anyone hadn't noticed, Premier League is back friday night onwards...

The "draw" for the new-look Champions League takes place today. The competition has moved from having 8 groups of 4 to having a single league of 36 teams. The teams are divided into 4 pots and each team will play 2 matches against teams from each pot. The top 8 in the league will go straight through to the round of 16. Those finishing in positions 9-24 will play in an additional playoff round to determine who joins the top 8 in the last 16. The bottom 12 are eliminated from Europe altogether, with the Europa League safety net now removed. * = debutant in group/league stage # = past European Cup/Champions League winner POT 1 Real Madrid # Manchester City # Bayern Munich # PSG Liverpool # Inter Milan # Borussia Dortmund # RB Leipzig Barcelona # POT 2 Bayer Leverkusen Atletico Madrid Atalanta Juventus # Benfica # Arsenal Club Brugge Shakhtar Donetsk AC Milan # POT 3 Feyenoord # Sporting Lisbon PSV Eindhoven # Dinamo Zagreb Salzburg Lille Red Star Belgrade # Young Boys Celtic # POT 4 Slovan Bratislava * Monaco Sparta Prague Aston Villa * # Bologna * Girona * Stuttgart Sturm Graz Brest *

I found it hilarious when someone was explaining this and they said those immortal words "teams will play more games" which is really odd, because every season "top" managers are moaning about playing more games! Great for the carbon footprint of all these times travelling around Europe as well! I just feel it's a fail safe for the "big" teams to get through, they miss out on the top 8, but get playoffs to have another go, and of course more games suits those teams with bigger squads, oh yes, the big teams!

Carsley now as short as 1/20 in some places to be next England manager, with a best price of 2/7. Pep Guardiola is 2nd favourite at 10/1.

They played well, won both games without conceding a goal, but as the commentators said, you'd expect that. See how they do against Greece. I wonder if Carsley actually wants it though, as he'll know all the sh*t that comes with it, and he's not keen on that side of things. He wants to coach the players and the players want to be coached by him.

Great to see Lucas Akins score in both his games for Grenada this week, and also Ben Waine for NZ! I hope they carry on their scoring exploits into the coming weekend with the Stags, if they have fully recovred from flying around the world! (Keanu Baccus also played for Australia)
