See the results here...http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/music/3560956.stm Robbie Williams and Angels is the song that most people think should have been a #1 hit, lots of other great songs get a mention as well, do we have any thoughts on the matter... As for worst #1, that was Teletubbies - eh oh, we should watch VH1 one of these days, make a note of the top 100, then have our own vote on here. ;D

The song that really should have got to number 1 but didn't is Pulp's "Common People"
(It was stopped by Robson & Jerome just to add insult to injury)

This topic title reminds me of a week back in 1995, when I was still relatively new the UK charts, when the dreadful combo of Robson & Jerome were #1 and Pulp were stuck at #2 with the brilliant Common People. One of the great chart injustices of the 90's.

According to VH1, the best #2 is 'Angels' - Robbie Williams.

Thats what I thought too and on checking....we are right, it only got to No 4 I thought it only got to 3 or 4... Was out at Christmas if I recall correctly so that explains the high sales for it.

Don't know the specific top 10 for that week but the best selling singles of December 1997 were:
1. Teletubbies "Teletubbies Say Eh-Oh" 2. Various Artists "Perfect Day" 3. Spice Girls "Too Much" 4. Aqua "Barbie Girl" 5. All Saints "Never Ever" 6. Janet Jackson "Together Again" 7. Robbie Williams "Angels" 8. Boyzone "Baby Can I Hold You Tonight" 9. Natalie Imbruglia "Torn" 10. Steven Houghton "Wind Beneath My Wings" (notable number 11 - Elton John "Candle In The Wind 97")
With the exception of Steven Houghton, all massive selling songs! Five out of the top 11 sold over a million.

I never thought "Too much" sold more that much maybe even more than "never ever" That was just sales for December, think the majority of the songs in there sold more than "Too Much" if you take into account November & January sales.
