I wouldn't panic too much - this is Austria we are playing at home. I know we lost to Northern Ireland but obviously they were fired up because it was a "derby" game in international terms. I don't think Austria can even mathematically qualify now so I can't see them really putting much into the game. Phil Neville lost it for us in 2000 but he's grown since then.
I'm not sure I'd play Peter Crouch. I'd pick Bent and Owen up front. Beckham has stood down as penalty taker (I wouldn't let him take them, Frank Lampard should take them. I don't think Beckham takes them for Real Madrid while Lampard does take them for Chelsea). I would drop him as captain too. I see that Rio Ferdinand has been dropped as we all suggested.
For those who are questioning why I would drop Gerrard, it's because I only want 2 central midfielders and I'd pick Beckham as one of them along with Lampard, and I'd prefer Shaun Wright-Phillips on the wing. He has pace and can take players on, albeit that he is a little less experienced, but I'd want him to gain the experience now because once we get to the World Cup I'd want him to be available as an experienced player (and frankly if we can't beat Austria we don't deserve to qualify).

So Carragher on the left, Campbell in the centre and Crouch up front, the guy who has not scored a prem goal this season, humm, is that the best we have after owen and rooney?

Campbell and Terry in centre defence #cheer# Happy days! I'm not too bothered about Crouch playing. He'll do a decent enough job.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kieran Richardson starts at left-back. You just never know with Sven...
I'd like to see Darren Bent play up front but there's an argument for Crouch, too. He's difficult to defend against and will cause Austria problems. The whole Liverpool team has struggled to score goals. That would indicate the problem lies in the midfield, rather than the attack...
