I'm hoping that Southend could win that as I hope they can do well this season. But I'd agree with that yes. I've noticed I agree with a lot of your predictions both in the World Cup, and for the season ahead

Niall Quinn looked positively suicidal in his post-match interview following Sunderland's latest defeat...
Bottom of the table after 4 games - it's time to get rid of some of those players and get some fresh faces in.

i agree bottom on 0 points after 4 games
3 of those games were against poor teams that sunderland should beat...
its more than a slow start, its relegation form

Perhaps Quinn should don the number 9 shirt as well as being manager and chairman? I do feel sorry for them though

i dont, my mate a sunderland fan has predicted a win in every game so far
and they have lost them all, maybe if their fans were realistic the team would have less pressure on them to win and results will come

Heard a Sunderland fan on 606 and he sounded depressed. I felt so sorry for him as the players just arent performing. Andy Townsend on TalkSport said yesterday that he went to the match and the players are going through the motions. He also commented that if they want to play for the club then they need to get their act together otherwise they'll be out of the club before they know it.

Maybe he needs a manager in to do the job, and let him get on with the money stuff?

Maybe he needs a manager in to do the job, and let him get on with the money stuff? I agree its become so desperate I think they need to lower their sights on who they want, and appoint someone quickly. Quinn may be a good chairman in time, but as he's said himself he's not a manager. Its obvious now they need a guy who's experienced at getting teams out of trouble. Peter Reid has been mentioned but I don't beleive you have the same success twice, and also Sunderland fans don't seem to want him.

the thing with sunderland is last season was freefall, and its carried on this season despite change of board and managers...
they do need a manager, but then i have no symathy as they had Mick McCarthy who is an excellent manager at that level and sunderland got rid of him even thought they were all but relegated

beaten 2-0, and now Quinn has stepped down as manager! According to Quinn they are close to appointing a "world class" manager... Their next match is live on Sky Sports, next Monday against West Brom, can Sunderland get a new manager, get new players and turn it all around by then... not much to ask for is it

It's supposedly Alan Curbishly...
Who would probably do alright, I was hoping for someone like Gary Megson.

Rumour is it is Roy Keane, managed noone and going to a team at the bottom of the table, he either likes a challange or has been offered silly money, thing is, he's not a world class manager, he was a world class player, there's a BIG difference as Niall has found out.

Still can't get my head around that, Keane's got no experience so how can he be a world class manager, and also why on earth would he go there? I guess its a stepping stone but he's got a heck of a job to even get them to stay up imo.

i agree, but i think if theres one thing weve learned is that Quinn talks sh*te, he has built himself up to be a saviour, saying he will sign kevin phillips, andy ried, calum davenport, adebeyour from arsenal lol...
players thet would not join in 1 million years, but look good on paper, he should of concentrated on trying to get realistic players...
as for a world class manager...why would one join sunderland?
