Don't know that many tbh, even though I did grow up listening to quite a few 80s bands...

159 Rick Springfield - Jessie's Girl
Great rock track although a bit dated today
158 Talking Heads - Road To Nowhere
First song I ever heard by Talking Heads then I just had to seek out all their old stuff, great band
157 U2 - Where The Streets Have No Name
First of many for U2, cutting them down to a reasonable amount of songs was very hard. I love 'The Joshua Tree'
156 Waterboys - the whole of the moon
Hmm this is a love/hate song sometimes I just cant stand hearing it but when I made my list I was loving it, strange eh?
155 Ultravox - Dancing With Tears In My Eyes
Great band their biggie is still to come
154 Echo And The Bunnymen - The Killing Moon
An eighties band that I never got into till around 1990, I discovered them late along with The Smiths, I struggled to choose my fave but I settled for this one in the end.
153 Aha - The Sun Always Shines On TV
I thought this might be too low down but after playing it again it's about right, it's not aged that well compared to 'Take On Me'
152 Bruce Springsteen - I'm On Fire
My wife begged me to list this as it's her fave Springsteen song hehe
151 The Pogues Feat Kirsty Macoll- A Fairytale Of New York
The greatest Xmas song ever, absolutely essential. To other Xmas songs just missed the list, Band Aid & Jona Lewie.
150 Steve Winwood - Higher Love
Not much to say about this just a great pop/rock song.

Don't like the Waterboys song, the Mandy Moore version is better, imo.

More poodle rock and one the most OTT rock performers ever Dave Lee Roth, this song is classic 80s rock cheese hehe
Yeah - roller disco days!

Good to see Echo and The Bunnymen in there. Loved their version of People Are Strange and they did fine songs like Seven Seas and Bring on the Dancing Horses

149 Pat Benatar - We Belong
Got into her thru an ex girlfriend, know her greatest hits of my heart, more 2 come.
148 The Smiths - This Charming Man
I could easily have around 10 smiths songs in this list but I kept them down to make room for others, this was my favourite for a long time, but I have a new favourite still to come.
147 Belinda Carlisle - Circle In The Sand
She was gorgeous, wasn't she and she's still not have bad, my joint no 1poster girl with Debbie Gibson and she made good records too ahem.
146 Heaven 17 - Temptation
Just classic new romantic pop, the remix was good too
145 Police - Every Breath You Take
MY favourite band for the first few years of the 80s expect more from them 2.
144 The Specials - Too Much Too Young
Ska at last, it's kinda lacking as Madness, Specials etc all did so many good records but not so many great records that stood out above the crowd, one Specials record did stand out above the crowd, its still to come.
143 Talk Talk - Life's What You Make It
Brilliant, amazing video great atmospheric pop
142 INXS - New Sensation
Another fav band now of the late 80s, KIck was an awesome album, couldnt listed half the tracks hehe
141 Heart - Never
First heard Heart on an eighties pop show called 'No Limits' they had these videos with big girls, in big dresses with big hair with guitars hehe but killer hooks. I couldn't understand why they where not getting hits in the UK. One song still to come changed all that. This was a hit later tho as they re-issued all the singles of their previous album after that one huge hit.
that's all today

There will be more Arcadia hehe anyway next 10
129 Icehouse - Crazy
Approaching the meaty end of the countdown, we reach one of my all time favourite bands, the lead singer has a fantastic voice and yes they are still going. Theyre biggest UK hit is still to come but settle for this Australian no1 and US top 10 for now
128 Bruce Springsteen - Born In The USA
Another entry for Bruce absolute classic and everything that 80s rock was all about.
127 Fiction Factory - Feels Like Heaven
Now here's a band that many of you many not know, this was a top 20 hit in 1983 I think and the band are actually from Perth, Scotland where I live hehe its kinda new romanticish like Heaven 17 I guess.
126 Def Leppard - Love Bites
We havent had a big rock ballad for awhile and they don't get much bigger than this epic, saw a bit of the Def Leppard bio-pic last night. It was hilarious dont think it was intentional the wigs were the funniest I've seen since Starksy & Hutch.
125 Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Relax
Now I hated this song when it was out, it was until ' Two Tribes' was released that I went back and thought yeh 'Relax' was good 2. Now of coz its classic.
124 Dream Academy - Life in a northern town
More dreamy lite pop that you just don't get in the charts much these days, so atmospheric.
123 Richard Marx - Right Here Waiting
Lighters ahoy, mega cheesy rock ballad of the highest order but we love it really
122 Red Box - Lean on Me (Ah-li-ayo)
Now a very quirky band that had 2 big hits and a few minor ones, they seemed to be completely out of their heads, this their biggest hit was catchy as hell and had a very memorable video.
121 Prince - When Doves Cry
First appearance for the mighty Prince again I could have listed a dozen songs but I kept it to my favourite 2, what is the one still to come???
120 Thompson twins - Sister Of Mercy
Great ballad for a band that's more know for the jaunty electro-pop this again sents chills down your back, gorgeous production.
