Good excuse given the cover of Livin Thing doing the rounds.
I'd rate them as one of the best UK bands since The Beatles and Stones were in their heyday. Favourite singles:

yep, I grew up on ELO, my dad was a huge fan
their Double CD Greatest Hits is fantastic!!! ;D

And Jeff Lynne produced the "comeback" Beatles singles Real love and Free as a bird I think.

The entire "Time" album is brilliant as is "Out of the Blue." Also Mr. Blue Sky is "bloody cracking." That's andy Britspeak for superb.

My favorite songs are, Last Train To London, Xanadu, Strange Magic and Mr. Blue Sky.
