This was quite an amazing chart. There were 5 records that sold a million copies in the top 10, plus another record that shipped a million copies (Angels) although it never sold a million. In addition, the rest of the the top 10 all sold well over 500,000 copies. Only the chart from 06/01/79 has more consecutive records at the top end of the chart that sold 500,000 copies - the entire top 11 managed it back then.
This chart does have the amazing feat of the entire top 20 singles each selling over 17,000 copies this week, the #20 record being the biggest selling single never to make the top 10 - 5,6,7,8 by Steps.
On the albums front, "Urban Hymns" by The Verve reached #1, the biggest selling Compilation album was "Diana Princes Of Wales - Tribute" and the top song on the airplay chart was "Torn" by Natalie Imbruglia.

and probably one of the worst records EVER to make the top 20 was down to #19 - "No Way No Way" by Vanilla It probably has one of the worst videos known to man, it has to be said. Does anyone remember the song AND the video?!

I remember the song, kind of a very poor spice girl chavs? The days when a song outside the top 40 could climb back into the charts...

. This chart does have the amazing feat of the entire top 20 singles each selling over 17,000 copies this week The Xmas chart of 1998, saw the whole of the top 20 singles selling over 30,000! The top ten was all over 50,000. Of course this was the week that Spice Girls and Chef both debut in the top 2 positions selling over 350,000 copies each! To think 30,000 on the Xmas chart last year would have landed you at #2!

This is the most recent instance of a completely static top 5.
