I miss Ace of Base It seems like an eternity since they released Da Capo, and even then I'm not hanging my hopes on a new album materialising soon (rumoured summer 2008 - apparently!) In the meantime, anyone else an AoB fan who will join me in a favourite single vote? For me - Always Have Always Will. Ta!

My fav Ace Of Base song was (and I know I won't spell it correctly) 'Voulez Vous Danser' ,but that wasn't a single. Their best single for me,was a toss up between The Sign and Beautiful Life. I vote for Beautiful Life. The only single I'm not keen on is 'Living In Danger'.
I can't tell the girls voices apart.
This thread is reminding me that I must get their first album on cd sometime,as I've not listened to my cass in yonks.
I lost track of them after the Flowers album, but I did get a cd single (in a mixed lot of Ebay) called 'Unbreakable' or 'Unspeakable' or something ,and that was pretty good. Not good enough for me to remember the title exactly but hey ho. lol

For me - Always Have Always Will. They were always a bit hit and miss for me, but I would probably go for AHAW too

They just seemed to disappear. Reminiscent of Abba.
All good singles but for me it has to be The Sign - should have been #1.

Ace Of Base as a band are "technically" still going. They seem to be forever in the process of new material, and haven't released anything new in the UK since Flowers, albeit a stopgap compilation at the end of the nineties. There was a single ready for release of the Singles Of The 90's compilation (C'est La Vie) but was withdrawn. They released a follow up to Flowers in Europe and Japan called Da Capo, but was never released in the UK (I don't think it was anyway) and certainly no more UK singles emerged. Some of the singles from it charted in Sweden and Germany (though didn't perform hardly at all as well as their earlier singles), and the album itself went Top 10 in Japan. Since then, they have been too busy having babies. Though I can't imagine a follow up *when* it gets released is going to charter any new territories, but I still look forward to it anyway. Anyway, thats enough Ace of Base history lesson for one day

I think they were nearly all number one's for me! Ironically, I think the only one that wasn't was All That She Wants!

So difficult to choose! Always Have, Always Will I guess, only cos it always makes me dance Da Capo was really good, I got it in Prague a few years back - Unspeakable was my best though liked Ordinary Day and What's The Name Of The Game. My fave of all time is Angel Eyes or I Pray

Sorry to bump an old thread, but just thought I'd share this rather jolly good Belgian Night Of The Proms clip I've been watching! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Og5QRn3caeYHmmmm, a lack of Linn still I see! Doesn't really hold up much hope for all of them getting together for a new album.

Some of the remixes I have of Cruel Summer are fab, and actually slightly prefer the Ace Of Base version.

Ooh as much as I love the Bananas,I'm gonna have to side with the Smurfster on this one ! I like far more songs by Bananarama than by Ace of Base, but still I have the Aces version of 'Cruel Summer' on my ipod, and not the Bananas.I like the Aces 'Big Bonus Mix',but I think the fact that they're stronger vocalists than the 'Rams is what swings it for me.
I bought 'The Bridge' cd ,like a month ago.I'd never heard the acoustic version of 'Lucky Love' before. It's gorgeous. 'Experience Pearls' is a standout track for me.
Is there (much of) a difference in the tracklisting of the Happy Nation albums ? I'm sure I've seen one with a disco ball on the cover, and was wondering is it better than the regular one ?
The singles from The Flowers album are wonderful, but the rest of the album is a bit forgettable. *** dodges slap from Smurfie*** haha
Seeing as I've liked each album a lil less than the one before it,I doubt I'll try to track down 'De Capo'.
Dumb question but I have to ask - what does 'De Capo' mean anyway ? Is it a place ? No ? I don't know what I'm on about.Whatever it means ,it's a daft album title, although they're not the first. *** Hello Louise ,and your 'Elbow Beach' ***

Da Capo means "from the beginning" in Italian musical terms, but is a totally irrelevant title, as there is nothing slightly "from the beginning" about the album, except it's the title of one of the tracks. I personally, like the album a lot, but then I am HORRIFICALLY biased. Beautiful Morning, Unspeakable, Ordinary Day and Show Me Love are all very good tracks indeed. With Happy Nation, the only difference between the "glitter ball" cover and "US Version" with the red and green sleeve, is that the latter has four additional tracks including The Sign and Don't Turn Around, which makes it a much better Ace Of Base album all round really. The only track missing from the original "glitter ball" version is Munchausen (Just Chaos), which is frankly one of the worst songs in the history of the 90's and glad they dropped it for the repackaged version. And Flowers is THE BEST one of the bunch, so a slapping may be in order!
