Right now,as I type I'm listening to the Sheilas song for the first time ever.I'd not heard any clips before, but am now listening to the 3:26 version. I wanted to hate it ,as the title (with all the brackets) annoy me (just a little bit),but I'm quite liking it actually.I like her voice but wish she wasn't part of a novelty act. It's quite Scooch-ish (I like).I think it'll be a massive flop but it is a good song.
Then again, looking through the other pages of this thread,I should point out that I love the Mandy album,AND one of my top SAW songs ever ,is 'Let's get together Tonite' by Steve Walsh - so I might be on my own,in liking 'The Squeelas' *(c) Jannie*.lol.
......puts on repeat to see is it as good the second time haha..........

The bracket overload irritates me somewhat too. Don't get me wrong I like the song. It's a little bland, but it's OK. However, it does have "flop" written all over it.
I'd be interested to see who SAW work with next, and if they start dragging back some of their old rosta. It would never surprise me that Pete Waterman being such an egomaniac still thinks he can probably get one more hit out of Sybil or Johnna.

First "all the way through" listen, it's OK. If they'd written and produced this back in the 80's, they would have shoved it on as a Sonia album track, rather than single material.

That's what i feel as well.Don't have the urge to hear it more than a couple of times a week. That's a far cry from how i felt about This time i know it's for real, Never gonna give you up, I heard a rumour, Who's leaving who etc.

A bit more effort on the old drum machine wouldn't have gone amiss. I like the vocals though. Who have they lined up to remix, do we know? (Too lazy to look on the PWL website )

(Too lazy to look on the PWL website ) The vocals are rather good and with a more "serious" song i will probably like them more, i've never been into the Barbie Girls-ish sounding songs.Riff & Rays(did a good job on SEB-Catch you) did 2 mixes as far as i know as well as a radio mix and an extended mix, was hoping the extended would've been more classic sounding but apparently not.

I like The Sheilas now, great fun pop song, it even has the calrec soundfield microphone vocal effects like on the old PWL records! It's so much better than anything Cascada has released so far, so there's no reason why this can't chart high!

the stigma of being The Sheila's from that annoying advert could be reason enough

Another UK Insurance brand - he was their logo/brand mascot! "The Bakshelf Dog" cover of No Limits reached 51 in December 2002. I was working for them the time they released the single, and it was constantly all over work e-mail, internal promotion and all sorts. The week it was released, they played the video on loop in reception! It was truly awful.

i think the Sheilas might be in a slighly higher league with all due respect! No Limits has never been a highlight in musical history even with 2 Unlimited performing it!

So you may well appreciate the horrendousness of the whole Bakshelf Dog debacle, and how it scarred my poor mind having to work with it! Oh yes, for sure, I would never want to put the Sheilas in the same league as "that dog", but I am just trying to highlight the point how the English buying public may have a tainted view of having a "brand mascot" releasing a single!

Plus I can't check whilst at work, so will have to later. But I did hear last night for the first time Girls@Play's unreleased version of When Love Takes Over You though!
