I picked up a Rave compilation from the market for a pound! It's really cool, takes me right back to 1992 and my school days!! Some of my favourites on the album are: Praga Khan - Injected With A Poison Altern 8 - Activ 8 (Come With Me) Messiah - Temple of Dreams Prodigy - Everybody Into The Place Oceanic - Insanity Adamski - NRG They do sound a bit dated now though!

Great thread - love all of those songs. Some of these were so blantantly druggy... - they never release songs like that now. (especially Praga Khan, Oceanic, Shades of Rhythmn's 'Exctacy' and of course Smart E's SesamE's Treet') Other faves of mine: LFO - LFO (the bass was incredible) Tricky Disco - Tricky Disco Nightmares on Wax - Aftermath Quadrophenia - Quadrophenia SL2 - DJs take Control Prodigy - Charley Orbital - Chime

It's really a type of music that is just concentrated on a five year period 1990-1994. Some of the songs really weren't chart friendly and when Acen "Trip 2 The Moon" charted in 1992 I seem to remember Radio One struggled to find a copy to play!

I bought on impulse two of those compilations a while back.. Back to the Old School 1 and Back to the Old School 2 and The second one was more the proper hardcore rave - the first one was too radio friendly. Which one did you get Robin?

How about 'Open Your Mind' by Usura? I liked that when I was younger, and probably still do. It was only relatively recently that I found out it took the sample from Total Recall.

Oh yes, great track, I have that one on CD single as well their follow up Sweat, which was erm.. nearly exactly the same less sample. Of course, theres always Felix "Don't You Want Me"

While Messiah "Temple of Dreams" took a sample from another Arnie film "Running Man" "Who loves you, and who do you love?" and "It's time to start rolling!"

Didn't Time Frequency have most of their sales north England and Scotland and were barely played in London?
There was a huge divide between clubs North and South in those times - London was less into the rave thing.

I think so yes, I'm pretty sure all the TTF singles went straight to number 1 in the Scottish charts

I'm trying to remember the lead singers name, was it Mary Kiani? She had a really strong voice. I liked "Real Love" and "Such A Fantasy"

Mary Kiani was the main vocalist however other female vocalists were used also. Mary has a fantastic voice.
Formed in 1988 The Time Frequency have sold over 2.5 million self-written singles worldwide making them the one of the biggest music act's in the UK. Founder member and songwriter/composer Jon Campbell ( who also created/produced and managed the band - Ultrasonic ), has been considered by many to be the pioneer of the "Four on the Floor" northern/Scottish dance sound and along with Steven Nelson and Debbie Millar, have been the only Scottish dance act in Britain to sell-out mainstream concerts.
Not only has TTF had 7 Scottish number 1 hit singles and 14 top five singles, incredibly their hit song "Real Love" has entered into the top five 3 times and achieved number 1 status twice. Quite simply this is an achievement that no other notable Scottish act can lay claim to in their own country.

Wasn't Mary Kiani married to the man who fronted the Dance outfit The Nightcrawlers?
