I think you're the only lesbian I've ever known and yet I know quite a few gay blokes. It's just dawned on me that that is hugely disproportionate... Hence my question is whether or not you think that's actually a true representation in real life?

I don't know really, I mean it's pretty easy to tell who is and who isn't gay but as for representation in real life I'm not sure. I wouldn't say I was part of the gay community for where I live. I'm just me. My family don't know by the way. Does that make you lot feel special? ;D

If so, I assume your family just think you're both housemates?

Yes!!! ;D ;D ;D Do you live with your partner then? If so, I assume your family just think you're both housemates? I still live at home actually... makes things pretty awkward sometimes. I think they must know but have decided not to ask me about it. Either that or we've hidden it pretty well for the last (nearly) 4 years! Her family don't know either. Ya think I should tell my parents eventually?

Yes, definitely - provided they're not really anti same sex couples that is!!! It must be better to be able to invite her round without the awkwardness. Plus, in the end, it would make it less awkward for your family too if everyone is stood on the same ground.

I don't think they would have a problem with it but you don't just one day turn around and say "oh by the way.." Likewise the people I work with don't know. I have a few (male) mates who know but that's about it, oh and several hundred Haveners ;D

I hope they don't bring it up because I think I would panic and try and deny it and make it all worse! I think it will come out eventually because we plan on living together, settling down etc so I think we'd have to say something sometime. Hope not though!

They probably won't as they'd be far too embarrassed about the thought of suspecting incorrectly!!! It will be something that's probably easier to do when you've moved out of home and you and your Mrs have a constant place of support outside of the family.

referring to what dandy said, I know no gay people at all, or not as far as I know... All tends to be couples and stuff, all our mates got married...Then again, I only lived in a small town and went to uni at exeter, hardly a big hubbub... Question, hummm, how many partners/relationships have you had?
