Hi Andy, I'm more of a lurker than a poster these days, but visit Digital Spy and Cool Clarity most days.
Love music, have quite a varied taste, love Meck's Thunder in My Heart Again, (loved the original all those years ago), just discovered Jack Johnson although haven't yet bought anything yet.

Well, hello! I'm the eightiespopkid, I'm 31 (so no longer a kid but never mind) and I am looking forward to posting in the charts forum. It's all a little bit scary over there at the moment, however, so I may lurk a little for a few days if that's okay. Break me in gently!

Hi and welcome along, we are dead friendly, although it can look daunting at times, you just have to post your query, or offer an answer and people will be glad to help, or glad of the help. Cheers for posting. Please telle us what your fave 80s stuff is, as well as current music.

Thanks guys,
My fave 80s music ranges from pure pop - Bucks Fizz, Dollar, Kim Wilde, Toyah, Madonna.... to stuff like Soft Cell, The Human League, early OMD, The Cure, The Smiths, The Sugarcubes, All About Eve, Billy Bragg, Fuzzbox, The Field Mice etc. I guess I got more "indie" as the decade wore on, but never turned my back on the music I grew up with. Pop seemed a lot more shiny and innocent back then.
Nowadays, I'm enjoying Belle & Sebastian, Madonna (still!), The Modern, The Pipettes... really liking a lot of stuff this year whereas I've not found a lot to enjoy over the last five or so years....
In between the two decades I was loving The Stone Roses, Bjork, Pulp, The Divine Comedy, My Life Story, Orlando, Younger Younger 28's, Steps, Vengaboys and Aqua. I had a bit of a pop renaissance thing going on in the late '90s...!

Excellent! Their "Soap" album was either ahead of its time or behind its time, I can't work out which. Either way, it not being of its time was why it was ignored when it was released in 2000. (Someone, somewhere is saying "no! because it was sh*t! But I'll ignore that.) "Sugar Sweet Dreams," "Teenage Mum," "No More Yesterdays," "We Nearly Made It" - I wouldn't be without those tunes. None of them were singles either, which may have been part of their problem. Still, they live on - in a way - within The Modern (minus the jokes and observational cultural references). If you've not heard them and are intrigued, go to Amazon!
