There's a suspicion that Hamilton's decision to live in Switzerland is costing him votes. Good.

Chris Hoy! I'm so glad he won ahead of Adlington and Hamilton! I felt they were 4th and 5th at best!

All 3 were deserving but I'm glad Chris Hoy won. I'm not sure about Rebecca for next year. Swimming struggles to get much attention outside the Olympics. Andy Murray is a dead cert if he wins a Grand Slam. My money, for a possible dark horse, is on David Haye.

Hamilton didn't look too pleased as Hoy was making his speech.

Hamilton didn't look too pleased as Hoy was making his speech. If smiling is your definition of not too pleased, then yes...

Hamilton didn't look too pleased as Hoy was making his speech. If smiling is your definition of not too pleased, then yes... He must have smiled when I was looking away. When I looked it was more of a scowl.

HAHA, didn't see this, was watching top gear, but glad Hoy has it, he has to go thro years of tough punishment and he got the 3 golds and however many in years gone by.
I wouldn't want to ride a bike as he does.

Rebecca Adlington now catching up with Lewis Hamilton according to the Bookies. I'm just so surprised that Chris Hoy isn't easy favourite - is it due to him not being bubbly enough or that cycling isn't loved. But 3 gold medals plus his Olympic History makes him a real legend. The other two will reach their pinnacle another time. It's one occasion I wouldn't mind if all the Scots did a non stop phone vote a la Leon Jackson. My dad shared a similar opinion to you, in fact he actually voted for Chris Hoy last night. You were spot on in the end, can't remember the exact figures but Hoy finished over 100k ahead. It actually finished in reverse order to what i was expecting Did initially want Becky Adlington to win but changed my mind during the show and thought 3rd was fairer, leaving it between Hamilton and Hoy.

Andy Murray is a dead cert if he wins a Grand Slam. Agreed. My dad actually thought that if Murray had won the Masters Cup he could have finished in the Top 3. But as he didn't even finish 4th (Ben Ainslie was 4th miles behind the Top 3) it would probably have been unlikely.

I agree with mrh, he looked to be smiling everytime i saw him. He also congratulated him after he made his speech and looked genuinely pleased for him. I thought what you said was true of Adlington, who actually looked pretty bored to be up there.

I would've had Hoy, Cooke and Calzaghe as my top 3. Unlike Adlington, Cooke and Hoy have dominated their sports all year and not just at one event, and Cooke became the first woman ever to be olympic and world champion. Calzaghe won it last year and has had probably just as good a year this time (I don't really follow boxing so my knowledge is a bit vague) and has cemented himself as about Britain's greatest ever boxer.

Delighted with the result. That's the third year running I've voted for the winner.
Earlier in the year I had chosen Hoy but then dithered bewtween a couple.
In the end I voted for him tactically as I thought he had the best chance of beating that upstart Rebecca Adlington - I'm actually surprised Hamilton finished ahead of her.
Andy Murray will always find it tough to win - there is a very large body of people who just do not like him.
I don't care if he could only land a Slam title for us.

What do you have against Rebecca Adlington? Just my opinion, but I was disgusted at her attitude during the playing of the National Anthem at her first gold medal presentation.
