Welcome to the FOOTBALL PREDICTA GAME 2008/09 Here are the rules: You have to predict whether you think ten games from the Premier'ship, Championship or lower leagues will be a Home Win (HW), Draw (D) or Away Win (AW). Once you have decided on your predicted outcome you must rank from 1-10 on how confident you are of this prediction. You will give a 10 for the prediction you are most confident with and 1 for the prediction you are least confident with. You must give 10 different rankings of 1 to 10. Each number between 1-10 can only be used ONCE. You will score 10 points for a correct prediction, this will then be multiplied by your confidence level. So 10 x 10= 100 points if you gave a 10 for that correct result. If you give the game a confidence level of 4, you’ll receive 10 x 4 = 40 points etc. If your prediction is incorrect you will lose 1 x your confidence level. Therefore, if you predicted a HW with a confidence level of 10 and you are incorrect you will lose 10 points. So points can be won and lost in each game! The game will be played on a monthly basis, with the winner being the person with the highest score at the end of each month. They will have the honour of appearing on the Roll of Honour. The games will be randomly selected from those played on a Saturday & Sunday only. If the rules sound complicated please feel free to ask me any questions or PM me directly. It will all make sense as the game begins! DEADLINE: At the time of the kick-off of the first game in the predictions. If you are late in predicting and miss the first game you can post your scores but they will be scored from 1-9 (in other words you will lose your highest prediction level). Yearly Roll of Honour 2004 Winner: Shania 2005 Winner: Misterhamster 2006 Winner: Robin Monthly Roll of Honour Season 04/05: August 04: Shania 825 pts September 04: Earl Purple 1200 pts October 04: Shania 1570 pts November 04: DandyHighwayman 957 pts December 04: Shania 1727 pts January 05: Robin / Misterhamster 1013 pts February 05: Misterhamster 1408 pts March 05: Frag 1452 pts April 05: Kristofferson67 1210 pts May 05: Shania 1078 pts Season 05/06: August 05: Misterhamster 1254 pts September 05: Phoenix 1111 pts October 05: DandyHighwayman 1661 pts November 05: Frag 1067 pts December 05: Dj 1507 pts January/February 06: Andy 1299 pts March 06: Andy/Robin 1355 pts April/May 06: Dj/Phoenix 1915 pts Season 06/07 August/Sept 06 Chartsfanatic 1639 pts October 06: Misterhamster 847 pts November 06: Frag 1210 December 06: Frag 1629 pts January/February 07: Chartsfanatic 1090 pts March 07: Si/Misterhamster 1573 pts April/May 07: Musicfan2000 1661 pts August 07: Robin 1012 pts September 07: Robin 1716 pts October 07: Robin 1452 pts November 07: Earl Purple 1298 pts December 07: Misterhamster 837 pts Jan/Feb 08: Frag 1563 pts Season 08/09: Aug/Sept 08: Maximo Mark 1782pts

MATCH SELECTION STRATEGY: REVEALEDI pick the Prem games from the 3pm and 5.30pm Saturday kick-offs. Since there are generally only six or seven games at those times for a given week, I prioritise teams that play on Sundays in the weeks surrounding that week, in an attempt to ensure that teams are "picked" roughly the same amount of times. In addition, I leave out the 5.30pm kick-off, unless one or both of the teams involved have a lot of Sunday matches coming up. This means that teams involved in the UEFA Cup, as well as United or Chelsea, will tend to be picked pretty much whenever they're playing on a Saturday, since they play several of their games on a Sunday. Believe it or not, all of Arsenal's league games so far have been on a Saturday. As for Championship games, I select them completely at random from the 3pm kick-offs only. International rounds are different. I try to pick "interesting" games, i.e.: - Those involving home nations;
- Other games from the home nations' groups
- Matches between high-profile nations in other groups (e.g. Sweden v Portugal)
The Republic of Ireland don't have a World Cup qualifier this weekend, but one game from their group, Bulgaria-Italy, has been included.

This competition is all a bit of fun with no prizes except for virtual crisps, so I'm sure nobody will mind that you're a few minutes late. I should have home internet back tomorrow night, so will try to get the results sorted then
