DEC/JAN has now finished; no more predictions will be posted in this thread, but the thread will still be open for a while, to allow people to comment. For new predictions, please check the FEB/MAR thread.Welcome to the FOOTBALL PREDICTA GAME 2008/09 You have to predict whether you think ten games from the Premiership, Championship or lower leagues will be a Home Win (HW), Draw (D) or Away Win (AW). Once you have decided on your predicted outcome you must rank from 1-10 on how confident you are of this prediction. You will give a 10 for the prediction you are most confident with and 1 for the prediction you are least confident with. You must give 10 different rankings of 1 to 10. Each number between 1-10 can only be used ONCE. You will score 10 points for a correct prediction, this will then be multiplied by your confidence level. So 10 x 10= 100 points if you gave a 10 for that correct result. If you give the game a confidence level of 4, you’ll receive 10 x 4 = 40 points etc. If your prediction is incorrect you will lose 1 x your confidence level. Therefore, if you predicted a HW with a confidence level of 10 and you are incorrect you will lose 10 points. So points can be won and lost in each game! The games will be randomly selected from those played on a Saturday only. DEADLINE: At the time of the kick-off of the first game in the predictions (3pm unless stated). Monthly winners so far this season: Aug/Sep: Maximo Mark, 1782 pts Oct: Robin, 1463 pts Nov: Earl Purple, 1056 pts Dec: Robin & Tom, 1706 pts Jan: Maximo Mark, 1238 pts

SPECIAL NOTICE
As you know, December is the time of the traditional Boxing Day fixtures. In celebration of Christmas, there will be TWO rounds of predicta on that weekend! So the gameweeks for this month are:
Saturday 6 December Saturday 13 December Saturday 20 December Friday 26 December (Boxing Day) Sunday 28 December
Since I anticipate people being off work or away from home over Christmas, I will try to make sure to get the matches for the double gameweek up by Tuesday 15 December. Please let me know if you're going on holiday before this date.
SPECIAL NOTICE 2
It has been mentioned to me that some people might like at least one lower-league game to feature on the card every week. What do you, the predictor, think about this? Let your voice be heard!
On a related note, At some point soon I might have a Haveners' teams special gameweek, where teams such as Notts County, Bradford and Mansfield will all feature on the card. Any other requests for teams?

The stupid barcodes messed up a few scores yesterday. Though a stupid referee helped mine greatly...

Even though your goal was probably offside anyway, so two wrongs could have made a right How can you be offside if you're behind the ball? From one of the angles it looked offside to me, I was waiting for the replay after the match but they didn't show it. I'll look at it again on MOTD2. Hull's 2nd goal was clearly offside, however. Then we have Terry's two handballs, and another handball in one of the matches (I forget who)...
