70 If You Leave It Alone - Wave Pictures 69 Wendy Wonders - Eugene McGuinness 68 Oh My G-d - Ida Maria 67 Rain - Mika 66 Yesterday Today - Vals 65 Water And A Flame - Daniel Merriweather ft Adele 64 Humba Heee - Rheinländer 63 Christmas Time Again - YCB ft Elliot Minor 62 Every Goliath Has Its David / A Balloon On A Broken String - Boy Least Likely To 61 The Path To Decay - Sirenia
Given that the song at #65 was by two major chart acts, it was surprising to me that even that song couldn't make it into the UK chart, but maybe it was never properly promoted as a single, or just too late a release from Daniel Merriweather's album. In any case it has become his biggest NM hit ever. For Adele it is her second biggest as Chasing Pavements was bigger.
Humba Heee was a massive hit over 2 years. Combining its points it would be #11 in 2008 and #9 in 2009 (beating several #1s) even though it never got higher than #3. It still ranks below Als Je Lacht in the chart of the decade so only the 2nd biggest foreign language hit.

60 Meeting Mr Miandad - Duckworth Lewis Method 59 Gasoline - Bouncing Souls 58 Life From The Bone - Daisy Wheeller 57 Mary's Market - G-d Help The Girl 56 Squander - Skunk Anansie 55 Zero - Yeah Yeah Yeahs 54 Millipede Stomps - Monieraths 53 C.C. Cinder - Sunsets 52 Tell Me I'm A Wreck - Every Avenue 51 80's Pop Video - Alphabet Backwards
Duckworth Lewis Method would have a disputed eligibility for Havenvision as they are Neil Hannon's new act and he had a top 10 hit with Divine Comedy. Bouncing Souls had 12 hits in 2009, a release in every month. (I remember when the Wedding Present were the FIRST to do that, although not all their singles actually reached the NM chart). Life From The Bone peaked at #3 in early December then fell but climbed back to #2 in the first week of 2010 so if we added on its 2010 points it would get higher. However that is something we don't do until next year's rundown.
In general this is a very good selection of songs iwth lots of #3 and #4 hits in.

I'm sorry for bumping this ancient thread, but firstly you didn't finish the countdown. Is it possible to know Top 40 positions ? Also I work on my top songs of 2009 list, possibly top 100 or maybe top 150. Which low-known songs you can recommend from your 2009 weekly charts ? From already mentioned songs I like : Orianthi - According To You Metric - Gimme Sympathy Aqua - Back To The 80's Sinead Mulvey & Black Daisy - Et Cetera Marina And The Diamonds - I Am Not A Robot But didn't know the most songs from your list.

I never knew that I hadn't finished this. So many videos got deleted... I thought maybe someone bounced this to find Enter Shikari's previous top 10 hit, as that was the year they had it.
Given you can't see what they were:
50. We Are Golden - Mika 43. In Your Light - Jon Allen

This topic could pretty much be moved to retro lounge now. Anyway, this is how they came in.
40 Save The World Get The Girl - King Blues 39 River Phoenix - T.R.I.P 38 Foot Of The Mountain - A-Ha 37 Sick Muse - Metric 36 Rock 'N' Roll Revolution - Krakatoa 35 (All The Way To) Holloway - Priscillas 34 Sometime Around Midnight - Airborne Toxic Event 33 The Punchline - 11.59 32 Please Don't Touch - Polly Scattergood 31 Workin' Class - Walter Trout 30 Uprising - Muse 29 Strawberry Tuesday - Sidewalk Skipper Band 28 Blue Eyes - Mika 27 Up All Night - Take That 26 Love Of An Orchestra - Noah & The Whale 25 Hold It In - Jukebox The Ghost 24 Little Red Rooster - Paul Heaton 23 Cinema vs House - Broken Family Band 22 Try To Think About Me (Don't You Worry A Bit) - Herman Dune 21 Kongulo - Hafdis Huld 20 Between Me And You - Misty's Big Adventure 19 Mountain Top - We Show Up On Radar ft Melissa Gueneau 18 Thriller - Michael Jackson 17 Grey's The New Blonde - Henry Priestman 16 Coin Laundry - Lisa Mitchell 15 Bridget - Mick Hargreaves 14 I've Got The World By The Balls - Tubedogs 13 Wild Child - Dakota 12 All I Want For Chanukah (Is Hookers And Blow) - Shwa Losben 11 Never Forget You - Noisettes 10 Joseph Better You Than Me - Killers ft Elton John & Neil Tennant 9 The Price Of Zeitgeist - Zeronic 8 Oxymoron - 11.59 7 Lift Me Up - James Elder 6 Bang! - Raveonettes 5 Don't Panic - Milk Kan 4 To My Bones - Wallis Bird 3 Lost Shoes - Jake. 2 It Doesn't Have To Be Beautiful - Slow Club 1 Other Too Endless - Polly Scattergood
My entry to Havenvision 5 ended up as my #1 of the year. Dakota, who finished 13th on this list, then won a later HIT contest with a different song from the same year. James Elder (#7) was my entry for Havenvision 6 and Wallis Bird (#4) for Havenvision 7. Metric also won a Havenvision but not with that song.

"Sick Muse" is very good. Not a fan of your # 1, she is beautiful singer, but don't like her voice.
Usually for my retrospective I use 14 (!!!) official national charts + Eurovision with pre-selections + some random Youtube videos (mostly from Lithuania), but don't know the most songs from this list or your current charts.
So I must ask a question about your music sources ? Especially in past. I didn't have Internet before 2011. When Youtube was started ?

Polly Scattergood has another song in the top 40 of the year too.
Other female singers in the top 40 of the year: Wallis Bird, Hafdis Huld, Lisa Mitchell
Female vocals (sometimes shared with male vocals) on Slow Club, Raveonettes, Noisettes, Priscillas, Metric.
Of that list, I once met Hafdis Huld. Kongulo is in English, in spite of its title. This was her second hit in my chart, her first being "Diamonds On My Belly" in 2007, and her biggest hit "Action Man" reached #1 in my chart in 2010. Kongulo peaked at #2 behind Slow Club (the act she replaced at #1 the following year).
Up to 2006 my charts were all based on physical releases. The first chart of 2007 was a turning point as I went into downloads and whilst I occasionally used iTunes, my main sources were 7-Digital, sometimes Amazon and play.com at one point. I used various sources to find the new songs back then. Now it always starts with a Spotify search.
youtube videos only became mandatory in my chart in 2015.
