This is rather too fast. I'm glad you liked Love Of An Orchestra because for me it's their biggest hit, albeit it reminds me a bit of recent Sparks. I was doing it quickly because I had time and I didn't want to get bored, the amount of people who I've seen what they rank from 51-100 of a year but not the top 50 is too high. Glad people appreciate 'Love of an Orchestra', it's a great song. They showed real progression this year.

005 The Horrors 'Who Can Say' *3rd hit* *peak*
History: 'Whole New Way' (#88, 2009) 'Sea Within A Sea' (#10, 2009)
As I said before, one of the surprises of the year. The only song in my top 15 not to make number one on my Personal Chart, I thought I might regret it at the time and I certainly do now. It's stunningly gorgeous. The third time an act has featured twice in my End of Year top 10, after The Libertines in 2003 and The Shins in 2007.

004 Bat for Lashes 'Daniel' *3rd hit* *peak*
History: 'Prescilla' (#77, 2007) 'Pearl's Dream' (#50, 2009)
I quite liked Bat for Lashes debut album but I never thought she'd ever make something quite this good. Synths replaced the more acoustic sound but it didn't make her music any less beautiful and haunting. It's my favourite video of the year too.

003 The Temper Trap 'Sweet Disposition' *debut*I first heard of the Temper Trap when seeing part of their set at Glastonbury in the summer, I thought they were quite good but not massively impressive. I downloaded the album when it leaked though and I did a complete turnaround. This turned into a bit of an anthem for me, and I was rather glad when I first saw Mr Mourinho talk over it, I knew it'd make it a hit! Still in my Personal Chart 23 weeks after entering it.

002 Animal Collective 'My Girls' *2nd hit* *peak*
History: 'Brother Sport' (#38, 2009)
When I first got Animal Collective's album at the start of the year this (the lead single) was the immediate highlight, the use of so many great sounds made it a wonderful listen and it spent 5 weeks at the top of my chart in March.

001 Animal Collective 'Summertime Clothes' *3rd hit* *peak*[/b]
History: 'Brother Sport' (#38, 2009) 'My Girls' (#02, 2009)
Back in 2003 'Don't Look Back Into The Sun' and 'Time For Heroes' gave the Libertines my End of Year 1-2. Since then it's never been close (the only time the act with my #1 of the year had reached the top 20 again since was The Futureheads, #1 and #19 in 2005).
If 'My Girls' was the most immediate track on 'Merriweather Post Pavillion' then 'Summertime Clothes' was certainly the biggest grower, by the beginning of summer it had become the best song I'd heard all year and it remains that way now. Four minutes of joyous pop with incredible backing and all kinds of weird noises and samples. It's a place to get lost in.

Quite a few there that will be in my chart as well.
I'm just not feeling Animal Collective at all, though...

A great Top 2 Mark! "My Girls" was my number 1 of 2009 so it's good to see others enjoying it, I also loved "Summertime Clothes", heck the whole album really! Our tastes are quite similar as Bat for Lashes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Royksopp were in both our Top 20s. Shame that no Friendly Fires appear, not a fan then? I must get that The Pains of Being Pure at Heart - I think i'm really missing out. Luckily I've still got a £10 HMV voucher christmas present still to use!

That's not too bad, will look out for yours... Have you never liked Animal Collective? Not really. I don't particularly dislike them. I think they've scraped into my monthly chart a couple of times but they didn't get anywhere near my end of year chart... I reckon 7 of your top 20 might be in my top 100.

20 Phoenix 'Lizstomania'
19 Van She 'Cat & The Eye' - I didn't remember this one, so listening now. It's pretty good!
17 Arctic Monkeys 'Cornerstone' 16 TV on the Radio 'Dancing Choose' 15 Dizzee Rascal & Armand van Helden 'Bonkers' 13 Kasabian 'Underdog' 12 Yeah Yeah Yeahs 'Zero' 11 Little Boots 'Earthquake'

None of your top 10 in my year-end top 100, but then five of the top 6 were between 101 and 200, so they all did reasonably well.

I hadn't even heard the song until I watched it on YouTube and was captivated by the song and the accompanying visuals from the video. I thought the song was extremely instant and really enjoyed listening to the song. Glad it ended the year ranking above 'My Girls' which I didn't get into at all. When I first heard it, I watched the video a couple of times but the song itself just didn't click with me. The Temper Trap is my rock anthem of 2009. A brilliant uplifting feel good track that was the soundtrack of the late summer/autumn. It took five weeks to get there but 'Sweet Disposition' did eventually top my personal chart in September.
