This starts on Saturday, and finishes on 2 April. It is being hosted by India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka (Pakistan were originally due to co-host but was stripped of its rights after the Sri Lankan team were attacked a couple of years ago).
2 groups of 7 teams, top 4 from each group go through to the knockout stage.
Group A
Australia Canada Kenya New Zealand Pakistan Sri Lanka Zimbabwe
Group B
Bangladesh England India Ireland Netherlands South Africa West Indies
Current odds:
India 3/1 Sri Lanka 9/2 Australia 11/2 South Africa 11/2 England 17/2 Pakistan 9/1 New Zealand 20/1 West Indies 22/1 Bangladesh 50/1 Zimbabwe 300/1 Ireland 1000/1 Canada 2000/1 Netherlands 2000/1 Kenya 2000/1

I usually fancy India to win the World Cup and they end up falling flat on their arses. After the time they've had recently, I wouldn't be surprised if the Aussies went and won it again.
Good win for England today against Pakistan after the narrow escape against Canada the other day...
I can't see any of the non-test teams making the knockout stages. Ireland will give it a good go but they're probably going to have to win three games to make it through. They should beat Holland but they'll also have to beat two from Bangladesh, England and the Windies.

I've got a sneaky fancy for SL to win this. India will be fancied and Aus won't give up their crown without a fight. Cracking knock by Sehwag this morning and fair play for Bangladesh for a positive start.

Is Pakistan's one-day team as bad as their test team? If so, then Canada or Kenya might stand a reasonable chance of qualifying.

The ODI team's better but Pakistani cricket seems to be in a permanant state of disarray. It'll be interesting to see how Canada and Kenya get on against Zimbabwe. Canada have some decent batsmen. Kenya are nowhere near as strong as they were in 2003, when they reached the semis.

Or did Kenya just fall down very quickly They were bowled out for just 69 runs in just 23.5 of their allotted 50 overs. New Zealand knocked off that total in just 8 overs. The other match today: Sri Lanka: 332-7 (50.0 overs) Canada: 122 (36.5 overs) Sri Lanka beat Canada by 210 runs

England in big trouble, 241/4 off 43 overs, chasing the Netherlands' score of 292 - there was some terrible fielding by England, by all accounts!
52 runs required off 42 balls...

Group B: England (296/4) beat Netherlands (292/6) by 6 wickets (8 balls remaining).
Unusually, England had more home-born players than their opponents in this match!

Group A: Pakistan (317/7) beat Kenya (112) by 205 runs.
4 Pakistanis managed 50s - apparently a World Cup first - and Extras were only 4 away (there were 37 wides!).
Kenya's last 6 batsmen scored the grand total of 2 runs between them.
