South America looking close already, I'd love it if Argentina were unable to qualify, but I just can't see it with no Brazil. Yeah, Argentina should be good enough to make it though I expect Uruguay to top the group. However, it is a golden opportunity for Venezuela to qualify for the first time. I didn't have time to do write-ups for the results I posted last night but there are full round-ups on my blog. But I will mention Bahrain had a man sent off in the first minute of their 6-0 defeat in Iran.

CONCACAF 2nd round, Group F: Haiti and Antigua both have maximum points after three games. They still have to play each other twice. Curacao and the US Virgin Islands are both eliminated. Pos | Team | Pld | GD | Pts | 1 | | 3 | +15 | 9 | 2 | | 3 | +11 | 9 | 3 | | 3 | -6 | 0 | 4 | | 3 | -20 | 0 |
I'll be taking an interest in this group as Leigertwood played for Antigua in their game, much to my surprise. Sorry if you've already mentioned it but how many qualify from the group? CONCACAF 2nd round, Group F: | 10-0 | |
Pos | Team | Pld | GD | Pts | 1 | | 4 | +21 | 12 | 2 | | 4 | +15 | 10 | 3 | | 4 | -6 | 1 | 4 | | 4 | -30 | 0 |
Wow at that result, have Antigua got any PL players playing for them?

In this round it's only the group winners who go through to Round 3, joining the six automatic qualifiers (Mexico, USA, Honduras, Costa Rica, Jamaica and Cuba).
From there, it's 3 groups of 4, with the top 2 going through to the final round. The winner of this group will be in a group with the USA, Jamaica and the winner of Group E (probably Guatemala).
Other than Leigertwood, their only other English-based players are Kieran Murtagh from Cambridge United and Marc Joseph, who plays for Kendal Town in the Evo-Stik league. Most of the other players appear to be based in the USA. They are managed by ex-Mansfield player Tom Curtis.
But I'm not surprised they're doing well. They've had some solid results in recent years, and only just missed out on qualifying for this summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup (the Caribbean only gets 4 spots). My rankings had them as the highest team in this group when qualifying began.
As for the 10-0, that's less of a surprise, given the US Virgin Islands' other results. Mexico would probably be capable of putting 20 past them. I'm not quite sure why CONCACAF decided to have so many teams in the group stages this time, rather than having two knockout rounds to reduce the field to 12.

Incidentally, Antigua's 10-0 win over the US Virgin Islands is the biggest of the 2014 World Cup so far, surpassing Jordan's 9-0 win over Nepal.
With San Marino getting drawn in England's group, rather than with Germany, Spain or Holland, the 10-0 might not be beaten.
Africa might produce one or two big scorelines. Rwanda v Eritrea might produce some goals, as could Kenya v Seychelles. Sao Tome & Principe are also due to take part, having not played an international for eight years. Their last was an 8-0 loss to Libya in a WCQ.
In Oceania, American Samoa are always good for being on the end of a hammering (31-0 against Australia) but they're part of a 4-team preliminary stage this time, along with Oceania's other weakest sides, Samoa, Tonga and the Cook Islands.

Cheers for that mrh, if this was a FB post it would have got a 'like' from me! Pretty much what i thought regarding where the players are based, did wonder whether the result was more because the US Virgin Islands are so bad. Thanks, Tom! A 'like' button would be a pretty cool addition. I've seen similar things on other forums. Agree with that. I also noticed a 'like' button on a forum I regularly browse the other day and it seemed to be a feature that anyone can use, not just members.
