Jonathan King song was edited out of both showings, not surprisingly was edited out in the early edition, but also edited out of the later edition which was supposedly meant to be unedited. Last night was so bad they should have edited out a few more, Starfighter (who?) and Glamourpuss (really?) for starters. Sunfighter. Their guitarist is the father of Sarah Harding...

A little Crazychris TOTP trivia now. One of the very few occasions that they played a song that was falling down the chart was in Sept. 1978 when Talking In Your Sleep by Crystal Gayle had fallen just a place to No.29. Featured on TOTP and it rose to No.15 and peaked at No.11 eventually. Who says TOTP can't make or break a song!!

Does anyone else think they have gone out of sequence by missing a week, looks like it was the chart for 31/07/76 instead of mid August?

I'd been led to believe there were several weeks missing, and the scheduling was intended to result in the Christmas week chart of 1976 being broadcast at Christmas week this year. Not 100% certain if this is true, but I did read it elsewhere on the web...

www.independent.co.uk/opinion/commentators/terence-blacker/terence-blacker-the-public-school-myth-of-character-2349844.htmlThe BBC's taste for airbrushing history There is something undeniably creepy about the BBC's policy of tidying up its archive productions by removing what it deems to be undesirable elements. A performance by Jonathan King on an edition of Top of the Pops in 1976 has been quietly edited out of a rerun of the show on BBC4. The problem, presumably, was that 10 years ago King was convicted of having sex in the 1980s with underage teenage boys. What is the rationale for this small-minded prissiness? Do BBC bowdlers fear that the moral health of the nation will be put at risk if King appears, singing "It Only Takes a Minute" under the stage name 100 Ton and a Feather? Or is there a vague fear that some feeble-minded moralist (or tabloid newspaper) might accuse it of somehow condoning the crime? It seems that the corporation is now so self-important that it sees itself as an extension of the law. King has been punished but the state broadcaster must add its own penalty. Certainly, if the BBC's new policy is to give musicians a retrospective morality test before allowing them on the screen, its censorship department is going to be busy. There will be no room for Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Pete Townshend, Ike Turner and many others – and that's before one has even reached jazz.

I think the most likely explanation is the likelihood of at least one tabloid creating merry hell.

I would tend to agree with Suedehead, although obviously it is a damned-if-they-do, damned-if-they-don't situation. It's not a decision I'd necessarily condone (except on musical grounds!) but I can't say I blame them for it. Also, I don't think Ike Turner quite fits in the same category, because he's dead.
But this was months ago, why is he only writing a column about it now?

Good show tonight but how many times has Twiggy been on? Seems like every week!! Kiki Dee's song is great.

Twiggy seems to be on every week because they keep skipping weeks.

Thought they only skipped one a month though when Sky At Night is on?

They're still slightly behind so it looks like they're skipping episodes to catch up. They're doing it again next week. Twiggy went up one that week so we might get her again.

Have we been missing episodes, some weeks I have them on the V Plus and others I dont seem to? Not that it matters when they play the same songs each week
