You can get some good value through accumulators in snooker. I won a decent amount a couple of years ago when I picked three unseeded players to win their first round matches at the Crucible and all came good. Dott and Mark Davis were two of them - can't remember who the other was. I forgot to mention it was good value for Stephen Lee, the way he is playing !! I assumed that! I can't see any of the others at 80/1 even getting to the quarters.

I think 80/1 is a great value bet if you could do it on an exchange then lay it back if he gets through a couple of rounds convincingly !! I could pretend to understand that but I won't

In simplistic terms, odds of 2/1 convert to a decimal 3.0 to make it easy to understand. Therefore you put one pound on the win at those odds you will win two and get your one pound stake back so will have three pound in your pocket.
On betting exchanges such as bet fair you have the ability of backing a competitor at 3.0 then if their price drops to evens or 2.0 you can lay the best which is what bookies do all the time to offset potential huge losses.
Therefore bet one pound at 3.0 and lay one pound at 2.0 you are even if the person loses but up a pound if they win,
Let's increase the bet. 10 pounds at 5.0 nets you £50 including the stack. If the price drops to 2/1 or 3.0 you can lay £15 at that price.
If they win you win 50 but lose 45 due to the layer bet. Therefore a PROFIT of £5
If they lose you lose your 10 pound stake but win 15 for your layed bet. Therefore a PROFIT of £5.
I've made quite a bit of money on Betfair exchanges sports and the games playing around with figures like this.

I found Stephen Lee at 75 on Betfair with £18 attached. So I bet that amount. I hope he gets to the quarters then I'll lay it back !!

I never had a problem understanding the concept of 2/1 whereas 3.0 makes less sense to me

Even though he told them he'd withdrawn, it still appears as a walkover on the results. It's still a match that was meant to be played and wasn't because one player pulled out.

In other news, the deadline for entering Q School passed on Friday. This year, the 12 qualifiers will get a two-year tour card. Also, there will be a new Q School ranking list which will be used to top up any Main Tour events that don't get the full number of entries.
Also, World Snooker has announced how the remaining Tour places will be taken. The nominations for the home nations have been scrapped in favour of more international nominations, including Africa and the Americas.
