I voted for Chicory Tip.Can't make out half of the lyrics. I thought everyone else would've gone for Little Jimmy,so Chuck Berry is a surprise to me.

voted - Mariah Carey was better! I don't agree with you, nor was it the worst #1 in 1972. Nilsson's version wasn't the original however, that was Badfinger. In fact Badfinger did a version that was arranged in the way Nilsson's was arranged - and did it first. But it never got released. May have saved two lives had it been...

Peter Ham committing suicide over it was a rather extreme reaction. Badfinger themselves had covered a Beatles song and had a big hit with it, and I'm sure he was receiving the money in royalties anyway. George Harrison was a friend of his and used to go down to his place, which I have always intended to drive past but never quite do, as I often ride along North End Road which is the main road parallel to it.
