I didn't expect it to be as runaway as that. I expected Dana to get some votes but didn't expect it to get more than Lee Marvin and didn't expect Dave Edmunds or Matthews Southern Comfort to pick up any. MSC was me. One of the worst 10 number ones. Hideously pretentious hippy rubbish written by someone who wasn't even AT Woodstock. A paean in praise of the generation that was handed the world on a plate - and smashed it...

I don't know the winner. I think I was the one who voted for Mungo Jerry - In The Summertime.

Who voted for Dave Edmunds though? I was actually more a fan of his late 70s music: I Knew The Bride, Girls Talk, Queen Of Hearts and Crawlin' From The Wreckage (which sadly flopped). "I Hear You Knocking" wasn't bad though.
Rockpile were a band featuring Dave Edmunds and Nick Lowe during the period I mentioned but did not exist in 1970 and not sure how their name ended up on IHYK
