Looking nervy for ther Brits.
No-one has a divine right to a medal but you should be able to produce your best at the Olympics.
Had Hannah Miley swum as fast as she did at the British Olympic Trials (and they were held in this pool) she would have won the bronze medal.
Five Live are misleading the British public - they have been talking Rebecca Adlington up all morning for the 400m .
Obviously she could win the gold medal but if everything goes to form then the Italian Pellegrini or the French girl will win and they have completely ignored them.

Mrh, do you have a link to the infostrada data? The info I'm using was published in The Times on Friday but only featured predictions for GB.

Adlington seemed to be swimming well within herself but still needs to find a lot of time if she's to win a medal.
On a more positive note, Purchase & Hunter looked very good in their lightweight double sculls heat after a poor build-up to the Games.

GB with a good chance for a first medal in the women's road race with Lizzie Armitstead part of a three-rider breakaway with around 25km to go.

Great ride by Lizzie Armitstead. Got everything tactically right but just couldn't outsprint Vos at the end.

It's been rumoured for a few days but it's been confirmed today that Paula Radcliffe is out of the Olympics.

Apparently she has tweeted that she is expecting nothing from tonight and can only do her best. Just a pity Lizzie couldn't get the gold but she rode a great race (not that I know much about cycling) but we were screaming at the TV go now about 5 or 10 seconds before she attacked on the Mall.

What a thrilling race that was! Lizzie did Team GB proud. It's a shame she was nipped for the Gold by just about a second, but it's our first medal so it shouldn't be knocked.

Nice one lizzie, didn't really expect that, so makes up for yesterday's disappointment!

Really good effort by Rebecca Adlington to win bronze. Didn't do anything silly and was finishing quite strongly which is a good sign for the 800m.

Have Muse been disowned from the Olympics?
No sign of Survival at the opening ceremony and I thought it was going to be used before medal ceremonies...?

2 bonus medals for GB today. Excellent. Lizzie Armitstead looks like a tremendous road racing prospect.

Phelps is having a mare. Why on earth did they put Ryan Lochte in the sprint relay ? Sentiment I guess. I guarantee that the four fastest sprinters in the USA weren't in that team tonight.

And so far we're on par with the overall total from the virtual medal table, albeit with a bronze instead of gold.
We're not predicted to win anything tomorrow but we have chances with Liam Tancock, Gemma Spofforth and the men's team competition in gymnastics.

Meanwhile, in the footy, GB have got out of jail against the UAE and lead 3-1 but Spain are heading for a second defeat in a row...!
