I’m more horrified than anything in this thread that Quantum Leap was referred to as the 1970’s and p*ss poor tbh.

Have we got it into the TV Hall of Fame yet, if not, looks like a mission...

No. I dropped TV Hall Of Fame at the end of June - I didn’t think the interest was there any more.

Oh shame, I couldn't nominate anything, but I'd always vote, but yes there were a lot of people not knowing the shows last time. Every 6 months maybe?

The heavy handed/crowbarred in moral of the week to its storylines completely negated any qualities its premise had. To me it represents US TV at its very heavy handed worst.
The 1990s Sci-Fi series Sliders achieved the same concept far better (at least for the first two series, before it turned into a tragic TV equivalent of the Sugababes) because any moralising was far more ambiguous. As depending on your point of view you it was up to the viewers interpretation in whether they were doing good or harm in numerous situations they found themselves in.

I know votes and awards aren't everything but "Quantum Leap" is on a solid 8.1 on IMDB and won 6 Primetime Emmys. I'm happy to enjoy a show with that kind of reputation.
"Sliders" I was a fan of, but it was trash. Such lame parallel world ideas - what if the Nazis won, what if women were in charge, what if Elvis never died? etc. All done on the cheap.

I have stuck with the show despite grave misgivings about the quality in the last two seasons.
I look forward to a new doctor and new show runner in due course. Fingers crossed for the upcoming season.

Actor Michael Sheen is the fan choice from a Doctor Who Forum poll and i have to say i think he will be good if he was considered. Having seen his work he would be great.
I heard Babylon 5 creater JMS is very interested in taking over the show, might be okay Babylon 5 was a great show and he has done a lot of writing for the sci-fi/fantasy genre.

Michael Sheen would be brilliant. It would also mean lots of scope for a new series of Staged!

I hope where Piers Wenger, the BBC's director of drama, said: "We are thrilled that Russell is returning to Doctor Who to build on the huge achievements of Chris and Jodie," he continued. "Russell, it's wonderful to have you back."
That is code for replace the Chris/Jodie tenure and pretend it never happened, and likewise revive its ratings.
Preferably undoing all that "Timeless Child" nonsense, plus whatever other rubbish Chibnall comes up between now and the end of his final series which ignores the previous history/canon of the show.
I feel a bit more sorry for Jodie Whittaker, anyone who has seen the British films Adult Life Skills, & Journeyman will know she can act very well with the right material. But her Gracie Fields trying to impersonate David Tennant's Doctor was on a wrong footing from the get go, largely hindered by her "Fam".
I expect Olly Alexander will be installed as the bookies favourite for the next Doctor, but as for a bit of an unlikely outsider .... well I believe this British actor (watch this video with a NuWho legend) is now available after a few years tied up in another role:

nah still cant see Olly Alexander as Dr Who. They will go with another woman but personally hope it goes back to a male actor. Ive no idea who they could get. But it will be someone who is on BBC 3 i dare say

Prolific British television director and producer Michael Ferguson has died at the age of 84. He worked on many classic Doctor Who stories, as well as The Bill, EastEnders and Casualty, amongst other things. He introduced the Mitchell Brothers in EastEnders and Frank Burnside in The Bill. www.theguardian.com/media/2021/oct/14/michael-ferguson-obituary
