Coming 6th isn't quite the same though. Few acts get a deal who go out this early. Didn't harm Jennifer Hudson - I'm pretty sure she was out of Idol much earlier than Ella. Ella to do the inevitable ballad cover song on next years John Lewis Christmas ad?

Oh, and what hideous themes next week!!
Don't they see that Motown and Abba will suit Maloney perfectly!

I think James has hit the nail on the head with Olly, he seems to have had 2 great years mind you he has been hosting the Xtra Factor, I like to see how Olly would do without the presenting gig. I think Olly is the best thing that ever came out of the X Factor comp, he has got diversity to him.

Nah, Misha B came 4th.
IMO, Matt Cardle remains the best act to ever come from XF.

I just feel now Union J could go all the way, I just don't fancy another boy band in the charts there is enough of them. Rylan and Chris will be terrible winners. I think its between Jehmene and James now to win, but I wouldn't buy a Jehmene single, those high notes sound really terrible.

oh what a bad week for the XF!!!!! kinda sad Ella´s gone... guess it was wrong song choice... i´ve heard many slowed-down versions of You´re the One That I Love and it only works if you do something with the song, but if not, the song is too boring and flat... and I´m kinda worried she´s not gonna have a career James is the only one that I really like from the ones left... the other ones are an abomination... and I don´t know what they´re thinking doing ABBA&Motown, that´s perfect for Mahoney!!! They should do the opposite, like sing songs from the 2010s and from Katy Perry don´t like Jahmele either, find him very weird and unlikeable and Leona is the best thing ever to come from XF. Her voice has a quality that no one else has. But of course the UK always do the "build you up, tear you down", so it was never gonna last. I personally will never understand the appeal of Olly, I cannot stand him at all and don´t get how people are so crazy about this silly semi-reggae-Maroon 5-rip-off songs he´s doing...

No matter how good and far apart from the UK x factor field Leona is with her voice, she got built up and torn down by the British public worse than any other contestant. There she was with the fastest selling debut, then fast forward a few years later and her then latest single leaves the top 40 after a week with that one week in the top 10. That's got to "Hurt" a lot!.
Also, this series stinks just by the fact Rylan is still in it. This is blatant attempts by the public to p*ss Gary off and I'm glad I am not watching. Waste of a TV licence.

If people dont like her music, they dont buy it, it happens to most acts at some point in their career. Olly has been clever in getting the presenting gig should his sales ever dip in the singles/albums market. Even if Ella doesn't get picked up by X Factor (probably a blessing), she has the voice to make a go of it on her own, join a band, etc, if she chooses to.

It shows just how flawed the show is when a talentless joke like that Rylan thing or that scouser stay in when a better singer goes out every week...
The remaining ones are all crap and will all flop badly.
Leona was crap - the only thing that vapid minger does is warble aimlessly round a note to some insipid shitefests.
Olly is quite likeable and makes decent enough music - and he works at it.

Ouch.
Had to laugh this morning. TV Times is obviously printed well before the last edition of the X-Factor and they have a big article this week on Ella praising her to the high heavens and saying how she has been the favourite all along and is expected to win!

Really making Cowell squirm, Chris getting through everytime. For once things are not going his way and is upset about it. ha ha! Wonder how long this will keep up?

Doesn't Cowell usually want the 'joke' acts to leave in the quarter finals? I guess the only problem this year is that there're two of them left!

As I don't get James, Ella was the only act that I really rooted for. I was devasted when she left the competition, her performance in the bottom was flawless I hope she get a contract even if she finished in 6th place, the comparison with J. Hudson is completely wrong btw. I would rather see Rylan than Christopher, Chris is just... dated. Jahmene is gonna win, I'm almost sure.

maybe one solution, is what Simon is doing in the XF USA, which is to reveal the votes each week... so you know who´s first, second, etc... then if people would have seen Christopher at 1 and Ella close to the bottom every week, votes could have been different...

That's not strictly speaking true. The acts that were in the bottom 3 in the top 12 in the US version were 7th, 8th and 9th in the previous week, so it doesn't necessarily mean that if an act is low in the voting it will encourage the audience to vote for them more. This notion that 'so and so is safe so I won't vote for them' is not borne out by the evidence either. We can see in the voting patterns after the series that voting tends to be quite consistent. For example, Matt topped the vote every single week bar one. Apparently Brookstein dominated the voting too. We know as well that no winner has ever found themselves in the bottom 2. From what we've seen in previous series, Ella can't have been doing as well as everyone thought if she was bottom of the vote this week. If they reveal the order each week it may have the opposite effect. If Baloney is indeed topping the vote and this was revealed after each episode, would it not encourage the FiX Factor enthusiasts to vote for him so Simon Cowell has a completely disasterous winner on his hands?

not sure... I'd say some fans of the person at #1 might relax and see it as "safe"... but yes, positions didnot change much in the US... let's see this week...
