I'm not sure if this would be termed "nearly forgotten" or whether it is just an overlooked single due to other hits by the band that overshadowed it.
Boney M - Belfast
It's a strange ( but good) song. There weren't many songs sung about Northern Ireland at the time, at least outside of punk circles. For a German disco outfit to do so was bizarre to the say the least. I can remember seeing an advert for the single one Saturday in the window of HMV on Northumberland Street in Newcastle. The record had just been released so that would place the date as being late October 1977. Strangely i remember there being snow on the ground which was thawing slighly but back then it was common for the north east to get an hour or two of snow in late October.

This one does not deserve to be forgotten. Rogers Cook & Greenaway (aka David & Jonathan) wrote and recorded this in the late sixties, and only hit with it in Australia. So in 1971 they gave it another go with a full choir and Plastic Penny vocalist Brian Keith. Looks like they aimed it at the Christmas market, but only peaked afterwards - which is a bit more evidence to suggest that the BMRB were way behind when it came to their New Year listings.
Given the number of Congregations around at the time (most notably Mike Curb's), they were the English Congregation for US purposes. Wonder if that's the original choir, or just everyone from the TOTP audience corralled in to miming...

Brilliantly crafted pop from Kon Kan. 'I Beg Your Pardon' was a sizeable hit.

Edelweiss 'Bring Me Edelweiss' simultaneously manages to be horrendous and genius.

Not as big as 'If I Only I Could' but this video gave Sydney Youngblood a chance to dance in uniform. 'Sit And Wait' is a decent follow-up.

Religious tinged dance from Gloworm. This is a live clip of 'Carry Me Home' which shows the magnificent strength of his live vocal.

Everything by Jaki Graham is brilliant. Including her appearance on Hit Me Baby One More Time.

2wo Third3's had the potential to be much bigger. 'I want the world' was a small hit.

'Sentinel' was essentially a re-working of Tubular Bells from Mike Oldfield.

Heavy D never managed the success of 'Now That We Found Love' again. 'This Is Your Night' was a blink and you'll miss it followup.

A style not a million miles off Bobby Brown, Joey Lawrence's funky 'There's Nothing My Love Can't Fix' was a reasonable hit.

"I Pretend" should not have been number 1. It didn't make it in any other chart, and even Record Retailer had it in a tie with "Mony Mony", which it broke in favour of Des O'Connor. RR would do the same in favour of "Fire"; Tommy James should have had a five-week straight run.
But Des may have been unlucky with this one. Which got to no. 2 in the NME chart, which took returns from "proper" record stores. You can bet that most of the audience for this track would have picked it up from Woolies or Smiths, so most of the sales wouldhave fallen outside the chart return shops.

Because Dexys are so famous for their epochal no. 1 hits and their TOTP prank, that this got into the top ten is forgotten. I just listened to it for the first time in God knows how long and, wow, it absolutely knocks seven shades of sh*te out of literally everything released in the past decade.
