Matt Jarvis, Mark Noble - West Ham both 5.5m
With a kind opening schedule to boost their early season appeal. Sam Allardyce’s side have (CAR, new, STO, sot, EVE, hul) in the opening six and could be quick out the blocks – for those unwilling to spend 7.0 on Kevin Nolan, Noble’s spot kicks and share of set-pieces could prove tempting, while Jarvis’ wide role in a 4-5-1-/4-3-3 formation may benefit from such an enticing run of fixtures. Jarvis always puts in a record number of crosses and with Andy Carroll set to play more games this year (and a back up coming in before deadline day to replace Carlton Cole) both are worth a punt

Just made even more changes to my team tonight. I don't know if I'll ever be fully satisfied with my team.

Onto some bargain defenders
Razvan Rat – West Ham 5m
In the old days of Fantasy Football, you would just bung Alan Wright, Graeme Le Saux, Andy Hinchcliffe or David Unsworth into your side and be guaranteed of points and while those types of full-backs do still exist, they tend to have huge transfer fees attached to them.
An under-the-radar option next season might well be West Ham’s new left-back Razvan Rat, who will start the season as West Ham's first choice LB. The Romanian has 88 caps and is adventurous with the ball, likes a cross and will form a formidable left hand side with Matt Jarvis andWest Ham having racked up 11 clean sheets last time out (six at home, five away), Allardyce’s backline for the price are one of the most reliable defences around, Collins (4.5m) and Reid at (5.0m) could be options aswel

Ashley Williams - Swansea 5m
Ashley Williams will guarantee starts in the centre of defence. Linked with a move to Liverpool would boost his value further if e was to leave. Intriguingly, Williams’ displays would have seen him finish as second top defender (and fourth overall) in the new Bonus Points System, were it implemented last season, so is one to watch even if he stays at Swansea

Seamus Coleman - Everton 5m
He has the potential to be one of the bargains of the season under new Everton boss Roberto Martinez. If, as expected, he’s utilised on the right of midfield, accumulating clean sheet points and assists/goals by playing further forward whilst being listed as a defender on fantasy football games. 74 points from half a season and the retirement of Phil Neville will see him get more game time this season, Jagielka at (5.5m) is good value considering he finished 9th top points scorer in defence last season

Per Mertesacker - Arsenal 5.5m
Much maligned, but Wenger rates him and 135 points last season was the most for a player of his value and was the 6th highest points total on the entire game! 3 goals and 14 clean sheets, any player this cheap who plays most games for a big team is worth thinking about because he might not be the best but against small teams he is guaranteed clean sheets, the Gunners conceded just 37 times in 2012/13 – the second best backline in the league.

Yet more changes have been done to mine. It's already quite a different squad to the original line-up I had.

last off GK
The most simple choice in fantasy football, its all about clean sheets and generally the higher up the table you finish the more clean sheets you will get so I always choose a GK from a top 6 team
the safe option is always:
Hart - Man City 6.5m (top points scorer last season, 158 points)
other top points scorers from last season were:
Cech - Chelsea 6.5m Begovic - Stoke 5.5m Jääskeläinen - West Ham 5.5m (all joint 2nd with 144 points)
other options: Mignolet - Liverpool 5.5m (140 points for sunderland last season) de Gea - Man U 6m (114 points last season) Szczesny - Arsenal 5.5m (102 points last season)
I would chose one of them 7, best value for me is Mignolet with a move to Liverpool and a more solid defence infront of him and Reina moving to Napoli he is the safe option if your not willing to spend a million more on Hart

Cheers for the helpful hints Daz, Sam is too busy with gcse's this year, so I'm giving it a go, that way at least I can give Murray a run for his money in coming last!!! I'm not sure how much I'll check the team. Just created a team, no Man City players, 1 Man U, 1 Chelsea and 1 Arse I'm sure I'll have a fiddle and see if I can get some Man City players in the mix, money is tight though!

Yeah money is pretty tight. Thats why bargain players that could get 100+ points is important to fill your team with

Ha have you changed everyone but the mig? Even though he has left us, I still love him so. Therefore he remains. Giaccherini has also survived the cull. As has the scouse Pele, Super Ricky Lambert.
