But he didn't swing his arm, he was using it to shield the ball, I dont like it, but think a yellow was okay. I've been reading comments on facebook saying it was a dull game, what game were they watching exactly? There will be FAR worse games than that in the tourno!

Even one of the ITV commentary team said it wasn't a good game. I've seen some real stinkers in the opening game and this wasn't one of them. As for Neymar, given that he knew where Modric was, he should have kept his arm well away.

I think Neymar was at best reckless with his use of the arm and warranted a yellow card. I think you can easily argue he intentionally used his arm against his opponent which would merit a red card.
The referee was poor. I do agree that he may have bottled the call given that it was a star player involved.

Officials getting in on the act again! Two good Mexican goals disallowed for offside, marginal at best, and another bugbear of mine, start giving strikers the benefit of the doubt, we want more goals in games. Colombian officials obviously have money on Mexico not scoring today...

not as poor as the linesman in the mexico game, he has already ruled two goals out wrongly ha
Let the festival of cheating and sub standard refereeing begin

The first one can be excused as it was so close although I'm inclined to agree about giving the striker the b of the d. The second one, however, was a very poor decision.

the first one the linesman couldn't be better placed, he was dead in line and it was a line of cameroon shirts, although it was tighter, not sure how he got it wrong! 3 goals wrongly chalked off and the softest penalty you will ever see in one and a half games is a disaster

The linesman was indeed exactly where he should have been, i.e. in line with the last defender. However, it has been shown that it is impossible for anyone to see clearly both the ball being delivered and where the forwards are. If anything the current rule - which I support - makes it even more difficult as the linesman has to keep track of which player(s) is/are offside.

FIFA Officials .... Incompetent or Corrupt?
Hopefully Mexico can hang on in the last 10 minutes for their well deserved 3-0 1-0 victory....

I like the way BBC1 introduced the line up for the teams.

I like the way BBC1 introduced the line up for the teams. Apart from Rio Ferdinand reading like a 10-year-old in an English class.

I like the way BBC1 introduced the line up for the teams. Their score graphics are certainly much better than the hideous intrusive ITV ones.

Not much competition but that's the goal of the tournament so far...

And that Radio 1 commentary red button ident on the right looks like a pointless exercise.

Spain must be feeling awkward right now, they are getting a good thrashing.

France's defeat to Senegal may have lost its place as the worst opening game by defending champions!
