I'm highly entertained, and not a little alarmed, by the hysteria in this thread.
Comparing switching channels and changing presenters to the destruction of the NHS or the impact of Brexit is a little bit of an over-reaction. If Paul Hollywood signs with C4, will anyone liken him to Judas ?

I won't be watching for 2 reasons.
One it won't be the show I enjoyed. Different presenters, judges, location, channel, adverts etc. It won't be long before they alter the format too as viewing figures will be millions less
Two when the viewing figures drop drastically it will make other producers think twice about leaving the BBC and let's be honest it will die a slow death if all its best shows leave. It's part of the Tory master plan

In a way they are all fighting over a tent, its not exactly rocket science, stick a tent in a back yard or something and film the whole series for far less.

It's part of the Tory master plan Indeed. Just as today's announced BBC Royal Charter means stars paid more than £150,000 have to be named with their salary amounts. Which will make it easy for ITV, Sky, Channel 4 & 5 to go and pick off the cream. Whilst giving the same 20% ITV owned Daily Mail; and the same Sky owned The Sun; and the same Channel 5 owned Daily Express some cheap and easy outrage headlines front pages (& ignoring Thierry Henry getting paid £15 million for 4 years for being a rubbish football pundit on Sky; Simon Cowell's Syco getting £63 million a year from ITV to produce to increasing tired TV talent shows and that disastrous Celebrity Car show that made Chris Evans Top Gear seem half decent), whilst ignoring Tory Government's cronyism & incompetence (cough Hinkley Point deal ... woo hoo "We've taken back control of our borders and given Communist China to right to build a Nuclear Power station at over the odds in Somerset, what could possibly go wrong" woo hoo). And some posters don't get it that the Tories are hellbent on slowly but surely destroying the BBC, just as they are with the NHS, with the announcement this morning that Local Councils in England & Wales had decreased by 22% (28% in real terms) since 2010 on elderly health care, all whilst we have an increasing elderly population... but you can bet that wont be mentioned anywhere in The S*n or the Daily Mail tomorrow; so its readers don't know, but the next time there is some medical incompetence it will be on the front pages of the Daily Mail guaranteed as the owners of that newspapers portfolio also contains the third biggest private beneficiaries of the Tory Governments outsourcing of NHS activities (aka Privatisation via the back door via creaming off the most financially rewarding bits first).

I wonder if they will play Donna Summer Macarthur Park on the last episode as the camera zooms into a giaint cake being pelted by the rain.

I enjoy dipping in and out of the show, but it is just a show, sad to see it leave the bbc, but I expect it will carry on, be interesting to see who they get in. How old is Mary Berry? She deserves to enjoy some rest at her age I expect.

Mary Berry is 81. She is about a week younger than my mother.
The fact that Paul Hollywood is staying will make things more difficult for the new judge (assuming they stick with having two). The new judge will inevitably be seen as "the junior judge" and will be compared with Mary. If they had two new judges, it would be easier for them to establish themselves as completely separate from the original people.

Next week will be the final of Great British Bake Off.
2017 will see a new show hit BBC's schedule starting late summer 2017 "The Big Family Cooking Challenge"; and are asking families to audition.
The show will pit family teams of home cooks against each other, with the judges visiting homes to deliver the challenges and decide who will be declared the nation's best home cooks.

That sounds awful tbh. I guess tonight will be the last time I'll ever watch GBBO!

To be fair, the idea of Bake Off sounds terribly boring but it has proved to be anything but. This new idea could be equally compelling. OTOH, it could be awful.

Oh just stick them in a marquee somewhere and call it something else! I guess the world will end with the final tonight? Predictions for winners? Candice, the ginger, or the old(ish) woman?
