Pink Floyd are one of those bands that have always been around me, my uncles and cousins loved them. My wife liked them and they got played at many parties but I would say I am still not that knowledgeable about them although I don’t know how many times I have heard ‘Dark Side’. Need to make an effort in this Spotify age.

My dad was a huge fan. I never got into them myself, but admittedly I haven't really tried! I distinctly remember him interrupting me watching a Disney movie aged about 3 and making me watch a Pink Floyd live concert instead

| Floyd were famous for their impressive stage laser lighting, unafforded by most other artistes at the time. They once held the Guinness Book of records, on par with the late Michael Jackson, in attracting an 750,000 audience at their concerts. This record had only been superseded by U2. When Floyd played at Live 8 in Hyde Park on 2 July 2005, they impressed a younger generation and their album sales soared again. |

I always assumed I wouldn't like 'Dark side of the moon', because I could never get into 'OK Computer' by Radiohead and I just thought it would be similarly depressing. I was wrong though because it is a really brilliant body of music and totally deserving of its classic status!
