63) Frankie Goes To Hollywood - The Power Of Love (473 points)
Retro Chart Run: 8-4-4-3-6 (5 weeks) Official UK Chart Peak: 1 A massive year for Frankie Goes To Hollywood, this is the song that earned them a third consecutive song on the Official UK chart. After just five weeks on the Retro Chart, this has landed on the countdown. It could only manage number 3 here and ended their run of number one singles....unless it sees a resurgence in the New Year. A massive five weeks at number one for Earl at the end of the year. Christie and rubcale are the only charts not awarding any points to FGTH this year. Cool Christie 0 points Kingpin 0 points Rubcale 0 points Shireblogger 16 points Peak: 8 2 Weeks Andy 36 points Peak: 7 4 Weeks Thorney 76 points Peak: 3 5 Weeks Smokey 77 points Peak: 2 5 Weeks Raliverpool 82 points Peak: 3 5 Weeks Mark 86 points Peak: 3 5 Weeks Earl Purple 100 points Peak: 1 5 Weeks TOTAL 473 points

84) Human League - Louise (408 points)
Retro Chart Run: 15-7-4-3-16-23 (6 weeks) Official UK Chart Peak: 13 This single, Louise, reached number 3 this month and is still charting. Only rubcale didn’t award any points to Human League songs during 1984.
If I don't like an artist then I rarely like their songs. I strongly dislike Madonna and FGTH and will probably never chart them but I have no strong feelings about Human League. I just haven't liked these particular songs. As this run down continues I'm beginning to think I could replace Chris with Kingpin! They see to have a lot of common ground and quite often I agree with them the three of us being the only ones not to give certain songs points.

One of the things that struck me doing this countdown was how closely aligned our '0 points' were....we may not always like the same songs, but quite often we seem to have dislikes in common! We'll have to agree to disagree on Madonna though! I know you're a big fan of Diana Ross, but I'm not that keen tbh although Swept Away was one of the discoveries of the year for me!

60) Howard Jones – Like To Get To Know You Well (478 points)
Retro Chart Run: 12-1-1-2-9 (5 weeks) Official Chart Peak: 4 Quite a brutal chart run for a number one single....out after five weeks, and dropping straight out of the chart from the Top Ten! So although we liked this song enough to warrant a fortnight at the top, it looks like we moved on from this one very quickly! 'Louise' is one Of Human League's most underrated singles. I think it's one of the best things they ever did.
