I like to compile a different personal music rankings from small to something massive, as my retrospective # 1s list based on UK Singles Chart, but I never have top songs chart for any year. It's a good time to do it now.
Why 2009 year was selected ? Mostly because it was the last year, when I was the active follower of UK singles chart. Also it's the last year of 00s decade, so I can continue with 2008, 2007 e.t.c and will get "Top songs of decade" list in the end.
My sources : 1. 14 national singles charts (United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, United States) 2. Eurovision and available national pre-selections 3. Youtube

In 2009, only one #1 from my chart reached the UK top 40, and that was when I decided to put Thriller back into my chart at #1 after Michael JAckson's death.
The closest otherwise was "Never Forget You" by the Noisettes which reached #2 in my chart but was the biggest hit not to reach #1 in my chart and finished 11th in the chart of the year, above many #1s.
Noisettes did eventually get a #1 in my chart 3 years later with "That Girl", a song in a similar style.

I loved Aqua, back to the 80's shame their comeback was largely ignored

# 56 - # 60 :# 56. LaFee - Scheiss Liebe # 57. Cascada - Dangerous # 58. Saint Etienne - Method Of Modern Love # 59. Lee Ann Womack - Last Call# 60. LaFee - Der Regen Fallt Two singles from my favourite German singer LaFee. At 15 years old she took a crown of my weekly chart with superhit “Prinzesschen” and became the youngest girl with # 1 single. The oldest # 1 singer is Cheryl Baker with the current Bucks Fizz’s comeback song “Dancing In The Rain”. Ten years after her biggest hits (“I'll Think Of A Reason Later” and “Now You See Me, Now You Don't”) American country pop singer Lee Ann Womack got her deserved position in Year-End chart with “Last Call”. Criminally underrated English band Saint Etienne is very rare sample of “hit or flop” act in my chart. "Method of Modern Love" is the only new composition on their greatest hits compilation. 1993 year was the most successful for group, three their singles became # 1s (You're In A Bad Way, Who Do You Think You Are, I Was Born On Christmas Day) The highest single from German beauty Natalie Christine Horler, because her UK # 1 is not represented here.

# 46 - # 50 :# 46. Princessa Avenue - Never Never (NF - Russia) # 47. Luttenberger*Klug - Sag Doch Einfach # 48. K3 - De Politie # 49. Little Boots - New In Town # 50. Metric - Sick Muse "Main hidden music treasure of this year" title belongs to Canadian band Metric. Their most unsucessful single from 4th album "Fantasies" "Sick Muse" wasn't represented in any national charts. In 2008-2010 years British pop scene got some young new singers with a big potential. Marina & Diamonds, Diana Vickers, Ellie Goulding and my personal favourite Victoria Hesketh (Little Boots). I didn't post yearly LPs chart, but want to complete "Top 100 albums of decade" list in near future. "Hands" was the one from my favourite albums in 2009. "New In Town" is the first swallow, maybe even my least favourite album track, both other singles still to come. The most hardworking girl group in a history of pop music. In 15 years period K3 fans got 13 studio albums, some greatest hits compilations and a lot of music videos. The name of pop duo Luttenberger*Klug is a girls' surnames combination. This song became their third top 20 single with a peak position at # 14. Girl pop rock group Princessa Avenue is very rare sample of something good on awful Russian music scene. "Never Never" was the first single from debut album "Princessa # 1" and also their unsuccessful attempt in Eurovision pre-selection. Sometimes the bad things happens and Russians got the worst ESC entry instead our best.

# 41 - # 45 :# 41. Sounds - No One Sleeps When I'm Awake # 42. Ithaka Maria - One Last Dance (NF - Estonia) # 43. Brooke White - Hold Up My Heart # 44. Mandy Huydts & Jan Leliveld - Mijn Nummer Een # 45. Honey Ryder - Love In Time Third and last entry for Lindsay O'Mahony and her group. Unfortunatelly for band all their three albums didn't get any chart positions in UK. Dutch music is not only damned DJs and godawful electronic, but it's home country for many wonderful schlagers. Two great vocals from ex-Frizzle Sizzle member Mandy Huydts and Jan Leliveld, who dead one month ago at 61 years old, were involved in the second most successful song from a duet in this top 100. A debut single from ex-American Idol Brooke Elizabeth White, who finished only at fifth place in the seventh season. Some years ago she was a half of indie duo Jack and White. Her good voice wasn't demand and she is not a pop country superstar now. Estonia is the least successful "Baltic sister" in this year. Ithaka Maria got only 6th place in Eesti Laul with her "One Last Dance". In 2011 year she will try again with fans favourite "Hopa'pa-rei!", but her Eurovision dream can't come true. Swedish "wannabe Blondie" band The Sounds and their first single from third album ""No One Sleeps When I'm Awake".

# 36 - # 40 :# 36. Kate Miller-Heidke - The Last Day On Earth # 37. Vanessa Amorosi - This Is Who I Am # 38. Miss Montreal - This Is My Life # 39. Infernal - Electric Light # 40. Katy Perry & 3OH!3 - Starstrukk Successful collaboration project between American pop superstar Katy Perry and male duo 3OH!3. The first, but not last her Top 40 entry. Possibly the most biggest personal shock from all this chart. Yes, it's that Infernal, which got some my hate for hit single "From Paris To Berlin" in 2005. We meet Miss Montreal (Roos-Anne Hans) again with her special vocals and the best single "This Is My Life". More unpredictably good comebacks. I'm not a fan of "Absolutely Everybody", but this is gorgeous and catchy pop track. This single even was # 1 in Australia. Besides mighty pop trio (Kylie, Delta, Olivia Newton-John) Australia always was underperformed in my charts. From other big hits I can remember only fantastic "Beauty Queen" by Lash, which spent some weeks at # 1 in 2001. Based on these facts I'm glad to see Vanessa and Kate so high.

# 31 - # 35 :# 31. Twins - It's My Time (NF - United Kingdom) # 32. Domenika - This Is My Day (NF - Belarus) # 33. Ella Endlich - Kuss Mich - Halt Mich - Lieb Mich # 34. Aqua - Spin Me A Christmas # 35. Kate Miller-Heidke - Caught In The Crowd The third consecutive and the highest Australian song in my chart. Festive Aqua and my favourite their single from post-Aquarium period. Schlager, peaked at # 12 in Germany. Probably you heard her debut pop album (1999 year), when teenager Ella Endlich was known under name "Junia". Eurovision fans can remember a song "Adrenalin" from pre-selection "Unser Lied Fur Stockholm", she got only 7th place from ten participants. It's already 13th and not final song from German acts in top 100. Belarus is the one from my favourite countries, but their music is a mystery for me. A song from Eurovision pre-selection again. Good performance and better than anything they sent for main contest. Please, don't mix up them with Slovak twin pop duo Twiins. Our twins Francine and Nicola Gleadall are two beautiful English ladies. Their version of "It's My Time" sounds like Christmas' hit. In my opinion it was very possible to surpass # 27 in UK chart, but it wasn't released as single.
