Poor Roo I had Metallica to finish higher, yes it's heavy but it's a stone- cold classic! This is one of the few rounds where I'm actually a little disappointed I didn't do better - most of them haven't surprised me but this one did! Ah well, only two more 13th places to go

I honestly could not have predicted this round. In Between Days I was not familiar with from the title but recognised instantly upon listening to it and gave it good points.
Echo Beach didn't occur to me as an entry for this, but really claimed my 15 points as soon as I saw it on the list. A new wave holdover bearing little resemblance to any of the other candidates but a big favourite of mine.

Well done greendemon. I wonder how I would have done if I thought about entering Heart's Alone before it was far too late? Still thank goodness my first choice had already been taken! I would have placed it 3rd, behind 'Echo Beach' and 'Livin On A Prayer' but ahead of the rest.

I'm happy that won, I had it as my 3rd place.
I found it quite easy to narrow the songs down to my final 8, but nailing them down into position took a lot of mulling over before I cast my final votes

I may have been a victim of Bowie's success in the previous round but when I submitted it of course I had not seen the previous round Or, you might have been a victim of entering a song which is more pop than rock, in a rock song contest.

If I'd thought about entering specifically an 80s "rock" song then I'd go for Sweet Child O' Mine but that's already been used in a different round by someone. Someone else put in Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer this round. And I think Rush - Spirit Of Radio was in the household items round?
I guess then I could have played Rainbow - All Night Long or I Surrender, or Whitesnake - Here I Go Again or even one of my many 1985 "rock" hits in the retro chart (John Parr - St Elmo's Fire for example)

But then neither "Life On Mars" nor "Starman" are rock either, and are not glam rock in my opinion. In fact, growing up I always looked on David Bowie as one who didn't just copy what everyone else around him was doing and did his own thing, and that was one thing I always admired about him, especially as his music seemed to still fit in with the other stuff around even though it was different.

Ashe To Ashes is one of the few Bowie songs I like.

Wow, I can't believe how close it is between the top 2 so far.
