1941. The Streets – Everything Is Borrowed www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8BHL5SWX0QFrom there poor fourth album of the same name (2008), this was the only highlight from that album for me, it was also their last top 40 single and they split up in 2011 but On 9 October 2017, Skinner announced via Instagram that The Streets are embarking on a UK tour next year

1940. Ash – Candy www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWsqd9eILhQFrom 2001 album Free All Angels, this was a departure from their Indie rock sound, they went full on pop here, I know Hupin was distraught when they released it but maybe it has grown on him since, I have always had a soft spot for the song

1939. Kings Of Leon – Charmer www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCd1vXsvkV4I have never fully been a massive fan of Kings of Leon, I saw them live in 2003 and 2008, they were very good in 2003, no way did I expect them to make it as big as they did though but by 2008 there set was so bland, they suffered massively being sandwiched in-between Pendulum and REM, Charmer has a driving bass line and what I can only describe as controlled screaming, anyway it works, its one of there most kick ass songs

1938. 3 Doors Down – Citizen/Soldier www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgV6VUinDEAThe late 00's were not kind to 3 Door Down but 2000-2004 they wrote some absolute bangers, this song was released as a single in November 2007 in conjunction with a recruitment campaign by the United States National Guard, pretty kick ass music video though

1937. The Jeevas – I Can't Help Myself www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtL_FoUsrxQAfter Kula Shaker Crispian Mills formed The Jeevas with 2 members of Straw (a late to the scene short lived Britpop band), this was on their second album 2003's Cowboys and Indians, I don't know about Hupin but The Jeevas were the first gig I went to in 2002 when I was 17, I did go to v2000 when I was 15 but this was my first actual gig

1936. Sufjan Stevens – Adlai Stevenson www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Fdaou3hjKoI know we have a few Sufjan Stevens fans here and he released some really great sings in the 00's, this is my favorite version recorded for The Sound The Hare Heard compilation album, which is a 2006 compilation of mostly acoustic arrangements by a number of singer-songwriters

1933. Ida Maria – I Like You So Much Better When You`re Naked www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkVy2FeqIyc"I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked" is the twelfth episode of the sixth season of the American television medical drama Grey's Anatomy which I'm guessing inspired the title for this 2008 song by Norwegian rock musician Ida Maria

1932. Eyes Adrift – Alaska www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xhuuXhouPIA blast from the past here, Eyes Adrift was a three-piece rock supergroup consisting of Krist Novoselic (bass guitar, formerly of Nirvana), Curt Kirkwood (guitar and lead vocals, of Meat Puppets who also played on Nirvana Unplugged), and Bud Gaugh (drums, formerly of Sublime and Long Beach Dub Allstars). They released a self-titled album in 2002, which was a mixture of punk, grunge, and country, taking all of their previous backgrounds and putting them together. They later broke up in 2003, after their debut album flopped. Kirkwood and Gaugh went on to form Volcano and as far as I know Krist didn't form another band

1931. Arctic Monkeys – Cigarette Smoker Fiona www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsXHPTO6BQcCigarette Smoke was one of the first Arctic Monkeys demos I heard but it didn't make it onto their debut album but in 2006 when they released their ep Who the f*** Are Arctic Monkeys? they reworked that song calling it Cigarette Smoker Fiona and here it is, Early Arctic Monkeys couldn't do anything wrong in my eyes

1929. Eels – Dog Faced Boy www.youtube.com/watch?v=rp9bmv__ndAFrom Souljacker, the fourth studio album by American rock band Eels, first released on September 19, 2001 in Japan and later on March 12, 2002 in the United States. The American release was delayed due to the lack of "radio-friendly singles" record companies wanted. Unlike some of Everett's other albums, most notably Electro-Shock Blues, Souljacker is mostly based on stories of outsiders rather than on Everett's own life. Characters were inspired from various sources, including circus freaks ("Dog Faced Boy") and a recording engineer with an abusive past ("Bus Stop Boxer")

1928. The Fiery Furnaces – Tropical Iceland www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEvLtTxakrQI cant really do this song any justice trying to describe it apart from to say it is tropi-cool, I assume its about a trip to Iceland? a trip being the operative word ha Goat's head in the deli case Oh sweet angel-angel-bearded face Paper mache parade on at night That's what you do with no sunlight In the tropical tropical Tropical ice-land Bleak church on a cold tundra Mountain-glacier-glacier-glacier-stream Black stone beach and a black death bottle Is all me and my baby'll need In the tropical, tropical Tropical ice-land
