HAVEN COMBI RETRO-CHART W/B 26th JANUARY 1986

A-Ha relinquish the Retro-Chart crown after three weeks at the top with The Sun Always Shines On TV, one week short of the time spent at the top by their recent number one Take On Me.


So, the Pearson siblings from Essex aka Five Star grab the top spot with System Addict after a week long battle with A-Ha. It’s the first number one for the group, indeed it’s their first Top 20 song, as their first four hits all fell short – All Fall Down #28, Let Me Be The One #29, Love Take Over #21 and RSVP #27.




With The Sun Always Shines On TV dipping to number two it leaves Dire Straits once again stuck at number three with Walk Of Life. Their opportunity for achieving their first number one may have to wait a bit longer as Walk Of Life appears to be in decline and the girls are now snapping at their heels….


Whitney Houston returns to the Top Five with How Will I Know, the follow-up to her recent number two hit Saving All My Love For You. She’s closely followed by Madonna, who achieves a new peak with the return of Borderline, up to number five.


Swiss duo Double get this week’s highest new entry as The Captain Of Her Heart enters at number 19.


Biggest climbers are from Bily Ocean with When The Going Gets Tough at number 8 and James Brown with Living In America at number 16 and both up 13 places.

I was undecided about whether to chart Breathe, I wasn't expecting to hear them until 1988.  I love the All That Jazz album, their singles will be massive on my chart.  I had no idea it took so long for them to become successful.   It's such a pity they had a shortlived career.
