August 2nd 1992 - August 8th 1992
A short reign at the top for Roy Orbison, quickly replaced by a great grunge track from Nirvana, Nevermind had so many good songs on it that were much more obvious hits than Smells Like Teen Spirit for me and this was one of them, not a lot in the higher end of my chart in terms of new entries, highest of the lot (#34) is cult classic by Sir Mix-A-Lot

August 9th 1992 - August 15th 1992
A second week at #1 for Lithium, it might be obvious by now I am more than a little fan of Nirvana. Highest entry this week at #8 is This Charming Man, although only moderately successful on first release, the single peaked at number 25 on the UK Singles Chart, "This Charming Man" has been widely praised in both the music and mainstream press since. Re-issued in August 1992, it reached number 8 on the UK Singles Chart (making it the Smiths' biggest UK hit by chart position) so I had to get it in here. Some really nice songs by Paul Weller and RHCP that I just discovered in #29 and #34 so watch out for them climbing.

Lots of great songs in the charts. Really hard to have a preference. If I had my personal charts for this year it would most likely be a weekly turnover of no1s to satisfy my favorites.
But I'm keeping a close eye on couple like Toad the Wet Sprocket or Saigon. Toads are climbing slowly wonder where that will end up.

That might be the peak for Toad The Wet Sprocket but their next single is my favourite by them "Walk On The Ocean"

16th August 1992 was my 10,000 day old birthday.
I knew a few others who celebrated that event.
My 20,000 day old birthday will be in approximately 1 year.

They could have been #1 pretty much the whole year but they weren't. However the Wedding Present did top my chart with Flying Saucer.

The Smiths song is great but I see you are not averse to charting songs that are second time around. This Charming Man is a lot better than You're The One For Me Fatty.

September 13th 1992 - September 19th 1992
INXS stays at #1 for a second week with no real strong challengers emerging, although Manic Street Preachers come straight in at #12 with Theme from M*A*S*H (Suicide Is Painless), they could well take advantage of a relatively weak top 10, we also have another of my favourite Bob Marley songs straight in at #18 with Iron Lion Zion, thy are the two stand outs this week for me but I did come across a #2 hit in Canada for Barenaked Ladies which I liked so Enid is in at #33. Further down this week we have a 90s classic rock overload with Hardline, Warrant and Faster Pussycat all making my top 50

Thought Annie would take it this week. It's such a good song.
Out of new entries - love Gabriel's one and of course Lion Zion of Marley's.
Surprisingly, MASH theme didn't touch me a lot.
The rest I don't even recognize at first sight.

September 20th 1992 - September 26th 1992
INXS are replaced at the top by Annie Lennox and the excellent Walking on Broken Glass climbing to number 1 this week, straight in at #3 is Jeremy by Seattle grunge band Pearl Jam, it was their third single from debut album Ten and was their first song to break into the US chart. In at #17 is a UK #17 hit from Suede from their debut album of the same name and at #22 is 36D from The Beautiful South, it will be a few year until they dominate the singles chart but this one combines overly sexualised lyrics with a catchy tune that they would later be well known for, it only peaked at #46
