20th November 1994 - 26th November 1994
What a weird week, highest new entry this week is a great track from Berri, it would goon to peak at #4 later in 1995. If someone was to say to me I would be charting Berri, Luther Vandross, Kylie Minogue, Jimmy Nail, Lulu and Joni Mitchell the same week I would've just laughed. In amongst that lot we have Pearl Jam's highest charting UK single in Spin The Black Circle which peaked at #10 and the second single from Tesla's new album Bust a Nut.

December is in full swing as we are enter the Christmas period, I'm not huge on charting Christmas songs but a few all time classics might make an appearance, Stay Another day would end up being Christmas #1 and All I Want For Christmas Is You comes in at #26 but the best new entry this week by a mile is Interstate Love Song by Stone Temple Pilots, they couldn't do much wrong at this stage in their career.

11th December 1994 - 17th December 1994
The battle of Blur v Roxette resumes with Blur scoring their 4th number 1 (There's No Other Way, Boys and Girls, Parklife, End of a Century). I'm loving the Aimee Mann song and it is well deserving of a top 5 placing going into Christmas but what will be Xmas number 1 next week? will Blur hold on for a second week at the top? Will Roxette score their 7th number 1 in my chart, will The Stone Roses spread some festive love or can East 17, Mariah or Bon Jovi make a late serge with their festive efforts? Highest new entry this week is a bit of an odd choice, they never broke the UK until 1996 but this limited edition 7 inch was their first single I could find back in 1994, they had such a catchy indie pop sound and were well ahead of their time, Ben Folds Five.

18th December 1994 - 24th December 1994
Roxette win the battle for Christmas number 1 to score their 7th number 1 in my chart, (It Must Have Been Love, Listen To Your Heart, Dangerous, Fading Like A Flower, Spending My Time, Sleeping In My Car, Run To You). The orchestral section in Run To You when that kicks in it just elevates the song to another level and is amongst the very best Roxette songs. As for new entries, the next few weeks traditionally have very few new releases so my 3 highest new entries are songs that charted in the USA Mainstream Rock and Alternative charts, Corduroy at #24 is my favourite Pearl Jam track from Vitalogy, "Everything has chains absolutely nothings changed". Rancid's first single from ...And Out Come the Wolves charted this week and peaked in January but when it was re-recorded and re-released in August 1995 it either didn't chart or didn't top its original peak position. I Took Your Name by REM was a good album track from Monster that also did well in American Rock charts this month. Throwing Muses comeback is unlucky to only enter at #44 but I'm sure it will rise significantly over the quiet period to follow
1. (2.) Roxette - Run To You 2. (5.) The Stone Roses - Love Spreads 3. (7.) Berri - Sunshine After The Rain 4. (9.) East 17 - Stay Another Day 5. (8.) Stone Temple Pilots - Interstate Love Song 6. 25th December 1994 - 31st December 1994
Always a quiet week so only 2 new entries and an unchanged top 3 for my chart with a strong Oasis single coming in at #5, what a weird week to release a single.

8th January 1995 - 14th January 1995
Stone Temple Pilots spend a second week at the top but this week is all about the new entries, Highest of them is Change by The Lightning Seeds in at #12 with an absolutely perfect piece of indie pop. Not far behind coming in at #19 is Glory Box by Portishead, it was the third and final single from their 1994 debut album Dummy and samples "Ike's Rap II" by Isaac Hayes and the bassline from the Wallace Collection song "Daydream", I always did think this one sounds a lot like "Daydream in Blue" by I Monster which also samples the same song. N-Trance and The Original release signature electro-pop songs and American singer Songwriter Elliott Smith is in at #35 with the sole single from his second studio album, Elliott Smith.
