Oh yeah - the justice is done, Wonderwall hits no1. Now let's go for Disco 2000. Love it to death. And I also loved the actress from the video, who is she? I was just all over that young woman fantasizing.
You have Bolton twice in last two charts as new entry.

So I do, I like Michael Bolton but not that much!
Wikipedia reckons the girl in Disco 2000 is called Jo Skinny and a quick goofle search for "Jo Skinny Pulp" seems to back that up

10th December 1995 - 16th December 1995
Oasis are quickly replaced at the top by Blur as we have a Blur/Oasis/Pulp top three. Highest new entry is The Beatles at #21 with "Free as a Bird", which was originally composed and recorded in 1977 as a home demo by John Lennon. In 1995, 25 years after the Beatles' break-up and 15 years after Lennon was murdered, the Beatles released a studio version incorporating contributions from ex-Beatles Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. Jeff Lynne of Electric Light Orchestra, who had worked with Harrison on Harrison's album Cloud Nine and as part of the Traveling Wilburys, co-produced the song that peaked at No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart.

Actually I don't think Universal is no1 material but let's be it.
Huge expectations for Beatles didn't bring any fruit - I was sort of... well... not that much moved by this piece.
Quite fond of Satellite and Simply Red one.

I can see why it might not be a favourite Blur song for many, up until this point they had they had released fast paced, throw away jangly radio hits like "Girls & Boys", "Parklife" and "Country House" but "The Universal" is slow, operatic and a bit deeper, I love the alternative feel especially the sci fi theme, its also been a national institution in the UK being used in British Gas adverts since 2009
I will probably get the next two weeks charts up together as there is never much released between Christmas and new year

17th December 1995 - 23rd December 1995
Blur were never going to last long at the top with Disco 2000 and Insomnia pressing hard for that top spot going into 1996, arguably Disco 2000 is even better than Common People. It is always quiet the last 2 weeks of the year so Ozzy Osbourne is the highest new entry, its criminal how ignored his solo career was, "See You on the Other Side" was a #5 hit in USA rock charts but never troubled the UK chart, but "Mama, I'm Coming Home" #46 and "Crazy Train" only charting at #49 are both criminal with the latter an obvious #1 hit. The L.V version of "Gangsta's Paradise" is interesting, he is best known for his collaboration with rapper Coolio on the single "Gangsta's Paradise" but this version is all him without rap lyrics.
1. (2.) Pulp - Disco 2000 2. (5.) Faithless - Insomnia 3. (1.) Blur - The Universal 4. (4.) Jars of Clay - Flood 5. (3.) Oasis - Wonderwall 6. (8.) Tina Turner - Goldeneye 7. (11.) 24th December 1995 - 30th December 1995
As expected a quiet week, Pulp remain at the top spot which isn't a huge surprise. Goo Go Dolls are the highest new entry, they still haven't broke through but their 1995 album "A Boy Named Goo" sold upwards of 2 million copies in America alone and the singles were fantastic especially Name and Long Way Down. A weird and wonderful version of Wonderwall by The Mike Flower Tops is next, its the song none of us wanted or needed but it does have a nice twist but a #2 single, come on! it must have been a quiet week.

31st December 1995 - 6th January 1996
Welcome to 1996, this might be my favourite couple of years of the 90's, not only was it a fantastic year for British music we had Euro 96 in the summer where England did brilliant in the football and 1997 saw the government that had decimated the north of the country for decades overthrown, optimism was in the air and for a few year there was this feelgood atmosphere permeating all aspect of society, the first hit of he year for me was "Lump" by The Presidents Of The United States Of America, not really a song to be taken seriously but it was a fun song

I go for Lump and Dubstar this week. Very good songs although from a different musical corners.
I'm seeing a slow attack of Earthsong. I need to say I loved it back then but got sick of overplay very soon and now I can't stand it. If I had my chart it would be a bona fide no1 for sure.
Gold is something I couldn't get out of my head for a very long time humming it and singing alone. Don't know why as it is not the best of Prince in my own list but for some reason I found the melody immortal.
We used to freak out when Insomnia was on radio and thought it was creepy and serious. Don't think of it much thesedays though.

Shame Lightning Crashes never got any higher. Way better than anything Cast did:-) Last year Live released a 25th-anniversary reissue of their album Throwing Copper with 3 previously unreleased songs that were recorded for that album but didn't make the cut, one of them called "Hold Me Up" is all kinds of amazing and got to #3 in my current chart Hold Me Up

Smashing Pumpkins are huge with this one. Truly deserves to go all the way up.
I can also recognize One of Us as a lovely melancholic track but it got overplayed and I can't listen to it now much more.
Gin Blossoms use to be one of my favorite bands in mid 90s. Don't even know what happened to them, Have to check Wiki or something.

18th February 1996 - 24th February 1996
Radiohead claim the top spot with Street Spirit (Fade Out), if I'm not mistaken it was the last single to be released from The Bends and peaked at #5 in the chart. Britpoppers Blur have he highest new entry this week at #22 with Stereotypes and at #33 we have another great single from Alanis Morissette's excellent Jagged Little Pill album. Find of the week is American gothic country band 16 Horsepower though, they remind me of mid 00's band from New Zealand called The Veils
