The Minnie Riperton song is just gorgeous. It's a tragedy that she passed away so young. To most music fans Minnie Riperton is a one hit one song wonder (pun intended). Which is a real shame as she did a handful of other great tracks the best being IMHO (this track which you might have heard but not known it was a track by her):
Minnie Riperton - Les Fleurs

Paul McCartney & Wings - With A Little Luck
First of a few Paul McCartney songs in this countdown, he was always my favourite ex-Beatle in the 70's
although later on I appreciated the other 3 more than I used to.
This song was from 1978 and reached #5, the follow up to the 2 million selling Mull Of Kintyre it was always
going to be a step back in sales.

Commodores - Easy
This song entered the chart on 2nd July 1977 the very week I started work, 40 years later Easy is not the word
I would use to explain work over that period. It reached #9 over the summer and was written by Lionel Ritchie.
It is also the theme tune for Sky TV's football show Goals On Sunday.

Family - Burlesque
This was their final charting single in the UK and it peaked at #13 in 1972, for some reason at the time I thought
they were American, only later I found they came from Leicester.

Rezillos - Top Of The Pops
The Rezillos were a punk/new wave band from Edinburgh. Lead singer Fay Fife took her name as a joke
relating to her birthplace (from Fife- but the way it's pronounced locally is fay fife)
Another member of the band was future Human League member Jo Callis.
The video is from their appearance on "Top of The Pops", how apt, reached #17 in 1978.

only peaked at #41, a far cry from 4 or 5 years previous when he was hitting the top spot.

966.Smokie - I'll Meet You At Midnight
Another song by Smokie, this one is from 1976 and reached #11, lead singer Chris Norman had a gravelly
voice a bit like Rod Stewart, when he left in early 80's he wrote songs for some notable artists like
Kevin Keegan (Head Over Heels) and the England World Cup Squad (This Time-We'll Get It Right)

Carpenters - Top Of The World
It was not cool to say you like the Carpenters when you were at school in the 70's, trust me. However as
I got a bit older I began to appreciate the vocal talents of Karen, she had a great voice.
This song reached #5 in 1973.

Glen Campbell - It's Only Make Believe
This was a hit in 1970 reaching #4,the song was written by Conway Twitty.
I liked Glen Campbell as a singer he had a great singing voice, he sadly died last year.
As a member of "the Wrecking Crew" as a backing musician he played on some of the Beach Boys hits
and hundreds of others, far too many to mention.

Daniel would easily be in my top 5... it's my favourite Elton John song ever.
Laser Love should have been a lot more successful for T.Rex... it always reminds me of the Rolling Stones.
