912.Elvis Presley - Burning Love This Elvis song reached #7 in 1972. A great song. But of course Elvis Presley certainly did not do the best version:

Some more fantastic selections, some of which are, imho, way too low on the list ! (The Man In Black, Looking After Number One...)
Also, a few tracks that I'm not familiar with, so many thanks for those.
Big shout out for Hot Chocolate. They never received the credit they deserved for the quality of their songs - they could go toe-to-toe with any of their more illustrious American rivals for pretty much the whole decade. Hopefully, there's lots more from them to come.

That Les Crane song has just got on my latest retro playlist for 1971 (when it entered the US top 40).
Looking After Number One only peaked at #11 in the UK chart, not #2. But it got to #1 in mine - which I now know is probably the second #1 in my chart to have the words "Number One" in the title.

Some classics since I last posted, and lots I don't know. Bridge over troubled waters (album) was the 70s for me, going to the EMEB Club and this being played every Friday/Saturday night while we drank our coca colas. Suzi Quatro was my 1st album from my parents, my brother got the Bay City Rollers, but then he liked them. Still got it in the loft, I also loved playing my dad's T Rex singles, adored them! And that Man in Black video, brilliant!

Never heard of Michel Pagliaro but based on this I doubt I've missed too much.
Classic Hollies' track there.
Diana Ross' Waiting has just appeared in EarlP's retrospective chart.
I do like the record but don't understand why this was a much bigger hit than many of her other songs which I thought were much better.
We all know the story of how Tony Blackburn promoted this - he really must have had a heck of a lot of influence with his Breakfast Show.
