X Factor has reportedly been axed after 17 years.
Simon Cowell, 61, is said to have pulled the plug on the ITV talent show - which last aired in 2018 - because he doesn't want it to 'become a bit of a joke.'
While around the world, the format is still successful, it seems that the music mogul has accepted that in the UK 'it has become slightly stale' and so has decided to 'shelve it' for five years, but sources are claiming its now 'unlikely' to ever return

I couldn't even tell you who won the last one.
Still he's not done badly seeing it's been franchised to practically the entire planet. I'm sure he'll be back with something just ever so slightly different, with a very slightly different name, but basically exactly the same format.

There have been TV talent shows around pretty much as long as there has been television, and quite a few of them have been music based in finding a new recording artist.
There are loads of people capable of singing, and also playing instruments, some can make a career of it, and a limited number of those will become very rich from it.

He already has a new show ready to go, Walk The Line, later this year. The format sees musical acts take to the stage to perform, as well as a panel of judges headed up by Simon Cowell. The top two performers of the evening then face a decision in their bid to be crowned champion — to either go home with a cash prize, or walk the line and play on. Should they stay in and top the leaderboard, they will then progress to the next show, facing a different cast of performers. The longer the performers can stay in the contest, the bigger the prize pot, with a high stake ‘stay or play’ moment at the end of each show. Each night, the reigning champion will be offered an even higher cash-out prize.

If they go out later they get nothing? But if the aim is to get a career at the end of it, the more times they appear on the show, the more exposure they will have and the better chance they have of getting a good following.
Unless the cash prize is really really worth it, play on every time.

The show has produced a few good stars, but I think it's well past its sell by date to be honest... and it's not as good as Haven Factor! 😁

I'll send the invites out for Queen (with whoever is their lead singer now), Madness, Kate Bush, The Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder and Bon Jovi to participate...

Haven Factor wouldn't work on TV because the audience wouldn't vote impartially

Impartiality aside, as right now BTS could stand on stage and fart, and easily defeat a tour-de-force vocal by Lady Gaga in a global public vote.
But if it was judged on merit, and going by the variety & quality of random covers done on the internet (especially over the Covid lockdown) then I reckon the final three would be Miley Cyrus vs the Foo Fighters vs Kelly Clarkson.

You only have to remember the Final of the very first series, little wonder dozens of ex-X-Factor alumni have come out with allegations about the show, and the lack of welfare for contestants.

Yes Rebecca Ferguson and Jedward have been quite vocal on Twitter lately about these allegations twitter.com/RebeccaFMusictwitter.com/planetjedward

It's a no from me as well.
Channel 5 are making a habit of this and slowly becoming a graveyard of popular TV shows
