Less than 500 from Charlton saw a corker of a game, we totally dominated them first half, and took a deserved lead through CJ Hamilton's superb run and finish (More of that CJ!) and sadly Charlton came back into it 2nd half and scored a scrambled goal that seemed to be touched in by someone on the line, and therefore offside. But we held on and could have actually won it, so a replay it is, which is a bit more money, let's hope a tasty tie is dangled, saying that, there aren't that many tasty ties in Round 2 really are there?

So we lose Weston Super Mare to Wrexham, but Hartlepool are still in after drawing away at Gillingham.

That's spooky, I was imagining saying that Slough and Gillingham could potentially play each other and it's actually happened! It isn't at Gillingham though...Of course the fact it could happen means it probably won't!
The ties of interest that are definitely happening, Newport at Wrexham looks tasty and might be on one of the Welsh channels? Home draw for Maidstone is good whoever they play and Guiseley will be tricky for Fleetwood I guess.

If we get past Charlton (and that's a BIG if), nice to have Donny or Chorley in the 2nd round.

I'd say Guiseley v Fleetwood has a good chance and possibly Maidstone v Oldham, though BT showed Oldham last night. That said, BT will probably show Sunderland again. Also very possible Wrexham v Newport will be shown by BBC Wales.

I've heard the Tranmere replay is on the telly on the Tuesday night, not sure about the Wednesday?

Got round to seeing the highlights show today, thought Mansfield deserved to win, the Charlton goal was set up by an ex Royal Fosu-Henry, who I presume has been injured as he hasn't done anything of note for ages. Another goal for Harry Pritchard for Blackpool, and Reading loanee Josh Barrett got an assist for Aldershot in their draw against Bradford as they scored from his corner. Given how bad the conditions were in the latter game I'm surprised it finished!

Not many of us turned up for the replay and I also didn't go, but we put out a marginally stronger side albeit we still played some "squad" players. Surprisingly Taylor, who had been suffering a muscle injury, played and scored a hat-trick as we ran out 5-0 winners in the end, 3 of the goals coming very late in the game.
As Doncaster overcame non-league Chorley 7-0 in their replay (in spite of going down to 10 men) we will face them in Round 2. We beat them 2-0 in a league game recently but the cup is different and we may play a weakened team. Of course we won't know who we are getting in round 3 when we play them.
In 2011 we played a weakened side at home against Luton in round 2 who were non-league and drew at home. When we knew the winner would play Tottenham in round 3 we decided to put out our first team for the replay and overcame them easily.

BBC Highlights are very interesting, we have several very good chances and an offside goal at 1-0 down, could have been a different game, but some of Charlton's goals were taken so well. If they ever need to loan some players, we'll take them!

It isn't at Gillingham though...Of course the fact it could happen means it probably won't! And it did indeed happen, though both sides were rather fortunate to come through their replays, the Gillingham manager even admitted they got lucky with the penalty for handball deep into added time at the end of 90 mins which took their tie into extra-time. Listened to most of their tie today on BBC Berkshire and can't believe that Gillingham managed to win. Slough had so much of the play, at half time they'd had 10 shots to Gillingham's 1! After their 2nd round exit last year they mentioned getting back to their objective at the start of the season of winning promotion which they ended up doing in the playoff final. No specific target this time around but i think they should aim for the playoffs in National South.
As for Gillingham, a home tie in R3 against Reading please...

Man Utd v Reading on BT in the 3rd round - didn't expect that! Also, assumed there would be 5 games but there are 6. With that many picked I definitely thought Gillingham v Cardiff would have been chosen but it hasn't been.

I'd missed this info, 5th round replays scrapped this season, one season early, because of fixture congestion The top teams all play their 2nd teams anyway in the fa cup, so what is the problem? And they are moving the 5th round to MIDWEEK from next season, wtf! FA Cup is all about the weekend, how can they move it to midweek, talk about hitting the smaller clubs that are left in, no replays, midweek games so smaller crowds, what a pile of poo as the big clubs shaft the small clubs, comes as no surprise though does it? www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46607201

Looks like there'll be a winter break next season, so presumably they needed an extra weekend for PL matches. They used to have PL matches on FA Cup 5th round day though? Could do that again and shift the many postponed matches to midweek?

Newport v Leicester and Gillingham v Cardiff And they BOTH caused shocks, 2-1 and 1-0 respectively and are still in the cup and the Haven Teams!
