27/06/2019 Madonna - God Control
The best track from the (disappointing, but at least this album feels like she really tried, rather than dialed it in) Madame X, gets a Jonas Åkerlund directed video making it the defacto follow up (dodgy rap and all) to her original (banned) American Life video. The video features a graphic nightclub shooting and a gun control PSA; as well as an almost casual sexual assault which is strangely is the most disturbing thing in this video to me. It features a handful of cameo appearances including one that had its thunder stolen by the new Taylor Swift video.
Ultimately watching this neatly summarises my frustrations with her over her last four albums. The video might be shocking but it can't really be classified as "surprising"? But it ultimately fails to be cogent (It is not shockingly surprising in the way "This Is America" was) in the way she managed to do so effortlessly in the first 21/2 years of her career, as I'm sure it was not her attention in the slightest but it comes across as a bit too much about herself rather than America's ridiculously lenient gun laws.

30/06/2019 Sløtface - Telepathetic
With most of the music bloggers & indie musicians stuck in several fields in Somerset this weekend, then it is slim pickings for new music. So thank goodness for this Norwegian indie power pop/ punk pop outfit formed in 2012 from Stavanger. This is the first new material taken from their to be announced follow up to their 2017 debut Try Not To Freak Out.

01/07/2019 Belle and Sebastian - Sister Buddha
The Scottish indie-pop group announced the release of an original soundtrack for the forthcoming British film, Days Of The Bagnold Summer.
The movie is based on Joff Winterhart’s award-winning graphic novel of the same name, and it’ll be the directorial debut for Simon Bird of The Inbetweeners. It’s a coming-of-age story involving a 15-year-old metalhead and his librarian mom. It is not seeing wide release until 2020, but Matador is releasing the soundtrack this September, and a video for lead single “Sister Buddha” is out today.

The latest track to be released from the Liverpool fourpiece upcoming debut album ‘0151’ out 23rd August, ‘Finders Keepers’ follows on from previous record teasers ‘Turn’ and ‘Please’ and once again shows the group’s penchant for writing elegant indie melodies with deliciously dark undertones. Well I think it is fab.

08/07/2019 Mystery Jets - Hospital Radio
(Few, I was in serious danger of posting up the stars Of A Star Is Born III cover of the stars of A Star Is Born IV Oscar winning song)
The Tottenham, London based indie Psychedelic rock band are back with their first new material in nearly 4 years. This sounds like a cross between Tame Impala & Radiohead with an impassioned defence of the NHS. "Our Health Is Not For Sale..."
