RONNIE O'SULLIVANScored his 1,000th century break on Sunday while winning the Players Championship. How significant is this milestone ? Well, here's a complete list of all the players to have scored more than 500 century breaks in the entire history of professional snooker. 1. Ronnie O'Sullivan : 1,000 2. Stephen Hendry : 775 3. John Higgins : 745 4. Neil Robertson : 621 5. Judd Trump : 596 6. Mark Selby : 570 O'Sullivan's average is 1 century break for every 1.26 matches played. The second best by this measure is on 1 every 1.56 matches (Ding Junhui). O'Sullivan has won 9% of the 10,957 frames he has played as a professional with a century break. He's in first place on this statistic too, ahead of Judd Trump. As far as maximum (147) breaks go, the all-time leader is.... ...Ronnie O'Sullivan, of course. He's scored 15. In second place is Stephen Hendry, on 11. He is, without any doubt, the most talented snooker player there has ever been.

JUDD TRUMPWorld Snooker Champion. The 29 year-old from Bristol beat 4-time World Champion John Higgins 18-9 on Monday evening. The final featured a record number of century breaks (7-4 to Trump), and only 3 frames didn't feature a break of 50 or more. Trump's 7 centuries is the joint highest for any professional snooker match in any competition at any time in history, nevermind the final of the World Championships. Trump also won the Masters earlier this year, to add to his 2011 UK Championship, meaning he is the 11th player to complete Snooker's Triple Crown. He now has 11 ranking tournament wins in his career, putting him 9th on the all-time list. The £500,000 prize for the World Championship means he has become the first player to win over £1 million in a single season.

Also worth adding that GB Fed Cup team won promotion to World Group II at the 5th attempt after 26 years IIRC? OK, it helped that all the Euro Africa Zone group matches were played in Bath and the promotion match was played in London, but it was about time they got the chance to play at home after all these years... Konta also reached her first ever tour final on clay recently, and is playing in the Rome final today which is a bigger event! She's already done enough to be seeded for the French Open, all seems to have come out of absolutely nowhere. Not bad on her weakest surface!

Also worth adding that GB Fed Cup team won promotion to World Group II at the 5th attempt after 26 years IIRC? Delighted as I am about this, earning a place in the world's top 16 does not merit a mention from me as a sporting champion. I have no problem at all in you commenting on it though !

SARACENS F.C. & LIVERPOOL F.C.As far as club football goes, the European Rugby Champions Cup and the UEFA Champions League are, arguably, the world's two top competitions. So congratulations to two English sides for prevailing this year. SARACENS beat Leinster (Ireland) 20-10 at St James' Park, Newcastle on 11th May. Saracens had defeated Munster (Ireland), Glasgow Warriors, Cardiff Blues and Lyon (France) to reach the final. It was their 3rd European Championship (previous: 2015-16 and 2016-17). LIVERPOOL beat Tottenham Hotspur (England) 2-0 at the Metropolitano Stadium, Madrid on 1st June. Liverpool had defeated Barcelona (Spain), Porto (Portugal), Bayern Munich (Germany), Paris St Germain (France), Napoli (Italy) and Red Star Belgrade (Serbia) to reach the final. ENGLAND ONE-DAY CRICKET TEAMAt the 12th attempt, and having been runners-up three times (1979, 1987 and 1992), England have won cricket's World Cup. The went into the tournament as hosts, favourites and top ranked team. But they surprisingly lost matches against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, and, less surprisingly, against Australia, meaning they had must-win games against India and New Zealand to qualify for the semi-finals. In the semi-final they smashed Australia, whilst New Zealand edged a really tight match against India. The final, at Lord's on 14th July could not have been any closer. NZ batted first, and scored 241-8. England scored 241 all out, with 24 taken from the final 12 balls. That sent the match to a Super Over. England scored 15. NZ scored 10 off the first 3 balls, but then only managed 5 from the last 3, with a run out as they chased the World Cup winning run. This meant that the 50-over match was a tie, and the Super Over play-off was a tie, meaning the winners would be the team that scored the most boundaries in the final. England prevailed 26-17, and thus, finally, won the World Cup. TEAM INEOS & GERAINT THOMASThe Manchester-based, British funded, British managed cycling team Ineos (formerly Sky) finished 1st and 2nd at the Tour De France. Defending winner Geraint Thomas (from Wales) finished 2nd, behind team-mate Egan Bernal from Colombia, who is the youngest ever winner of the race. Ineos/Sky has now won 7 of the past 8 editions of the world's premiere cycling race. During July 2019 Ineos/Sky also added the 2011 edition of the Vuelta a Espana to its list of victories. The rider who was declared winner at the time had failed a retrospective drugs test (based on retained samples) and chose not to contest the findings, thus promoting runner-up Chris Froome (British) to winner. Froome had previously won the 2017 Vuelta as well as the 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017 Tours de France and the 2018 Giro d'Italia. With 7 Grand Tour wins, Froome is now joint 4th on the all-time list.
