The Ollie Robinson suspension a tricky one but I think a correct decision pending the completion of the investigation.
On the one hand, you could say he was young, naive and a bit tongue in cheek but on the other hand, are we saying it's acceptable for someone to say these things as an 18-19 year old and then forget about it when they're in their mid-20s?
Having seen the tweets, they are disgusting to read. However I also think the ECB needs to handle these sort of situations better in the future. A bit more proactive rather than being reactive.

The tweets were stupid but if taking action makes teenagers think twice about what they post on social media, it's worth it.
But you're right. If a tabloid paper can pay someone to trawl through years of tweets looking for dirt, the ECB should be doing the same before someone is called into the squad.

Taking no action would have been unacceptable. It would suggest the ECB isn't too fussed about it.
But, of course, the action should have been taken before, not after, his test debut. Hence the ECB has failed too.
We all did stupid things as teenagers. Hopefully, we have become better people since then. I assume the ECB will interview Robinson's colleagues to determine whether or not he is a reformed character, before deciding how long his suspension should last, and whether he needs any further help.
Criminals are given the opportunity to return to normal society after they've served their sentence, and Robinson should be recalled to the England team in due course. Perhaps he will volunteer to become a poster boy for anti-racism in cricket.

Are there any dodgy tweets out there by any of our dodgy batsmen, so we could get them banned and maybe find one or two who can actually bat? And by that I mean put the bat near the pad so the ball doesn't bowl you, thought it was a basic thing in batting, but apparently you can play for England if you're good at that.

Crawley and Bracey are an embarrassment to batting, is this the best we have to offer? Great to see Burns settling into the opener role, and a great effort by Lawrence after a dodgy start.

To be fair, Bracey is only there as 4th choice wicketkeeper. That said, Sam Billings couldn't have done any worse. Crawley's done OK for England so far but seems rather inconsistent.

Quite the embarrassment for England today.

The top order batting, apart from Root, looks as bad as ever. The bowling has been inconsistent. They let India off the hook this morning, then dug themselves into a hole with the bat from which they couldn't recover.

Dominic sibley is nowhere good enough one dimensional and very little shot selection.

The commentators were going on about great Indian bowling, but a lot of the time, they looked like balls the England players could just leave alone, but our batsmen tend to dangle a bat to try and hit it. Got to hope the ashes are cancelled as it will be utterly embarassing out there with this team! I'll go back to not watching, as it just depresses me how bad we have become.

Has anybody been watching any of The Hundred matches? If so, what do you think of them and the format? Personally I don't think they are too bad though they can be a bit gimmicky, e,g, the DJ firing up records, the team names, players no longer bowling 6 ball overs etc. I do prefer the more traditional T20 format though. Has T20 now been abandoned? I can't recall seeing anything about it for this season.
At least it is attracting decentish crowds, and more importantly children and women rather than the boozy-night-out male crowd, though they will invariably decline as the years pass. I believe today sees the last set of games for this season.

T20 were doing the exact same thing, kids and families there as well, so I didn't see the need for this, and some of the team names are an embarrassment, just another way to try and get rid of test and county matches. I found the commentators really annoying as well, let's be blokey matey jokey types rather than actually having any interest in what's going on in the match!

The Hundred has been better than I thought it would be. It's clearly aimed at people who wouldn't usually watch cricket so I think it's served its purpose in that respect. Yes, the team names are stupid but no more so than those we already had in the county game.
The T20 Blast is still taking place.

In other news, Dawid Malan has been recalled to the test squad, with Sibley and Crawley dropped.

Sensational start to the 3rd test with India all out for 78, having been 56-3 and 67-5. Craig Overton and Sam Curran both took two wickets in two balls.
Dawid Malan is in the side with Haseeb Hameed promoted to opener. Overton plays in place of the injured Mark Wood.

I might watch the highlights then as long as are not as bad as them in the batting

A perfect day for England. 120-0 at the close, already 42 ahead. 50s for Burns and Hameed, the latter in particular looking like a completely different player from the previous test.

Now that was brilliant! That's what I like to see. Tomorrow morning may be a lot harder, but it's given us a great base to build on!

That's about as one-sided as a day of Test cricket can go. A great recovery after the shambles of the last day of the last Test.
