Ireland all out for 172, Willey takes 5 wickets for the first time in an ODI. Shouldn't be a problem for England with the batting they have but it could get interesting if Ireland take a few early wickets.

Comfortable in the end for England. Sam Billings hit an unbeaten 67 as England reached their target inside 30 overs for a 6-wicket victory. Billings was a late addition to the team with Joe Denly having to pull out this morning with a bad back. Match 2 is on Saturday.
This was the first match to count towards the World Cup Super League, which sees the 12 full ICC members plus the Netherlands compete in a league format with the top 7 qualifying for the next World Cup, along with hosts India. The 5 who don't make it automatically will go into a qualifying tournament with 5 associate members to determine the final 2 qualifiers. England earn 10 points for their win today.

England survive a scare to win the second ODI against Ireland and clinch the series with a game to spare.
Ireland lost early wickets but recovered from 91-6 to 212-9, thanks largely to Curtis Campher's 68. Despite losing Jason Roy early, England seemed to be cruising to victory at 131-3 after Jonny Bairstow smashed 82 off just 41 balls. But Josh Little took three quick wickets for Ireland to leave England wobbling but an unbeaten stand of 79 between Sam Billings and David Willey saw England home.
The final match of the series is on Tuesday, with England's 3-Test series against Pakistan starting the following day.

Very good win for Ireland in the final ODI yesterday, chasing down 329 to beat England by 7 wickets with one ball to spare. Eoin Morgan hit a century for England but wasn't on the field for Ireland's innings due to a groin injury, meaning Moeen Ali was skippering the side. Paul Stirling and Andrew Balbirnie both hit centuries for Ireland as England's bowlers struggled.
Today sees the start of the test series against Pakistan at Old Trafford. England are unchanged from the 3rd Test against the West Indies, with Ben Stokes still not deemed fit enough to bowl.
Pakistan's team: Shan Masood, Abid Ali, Azhar Ali (c), Babar Azam, Asad Shafiq, Mohammad Rizwan (w), Shadab Khan, Yasir Shah, Mohammad Abbas, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah
Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat. Archer and Woakes broke through before lunch for England but it's been all Pakistan since then as they've moved on to 121-2.

England all out for 219, in response to Pakistan's 326. England's First Test Syndrome looks set to strike again.

Remarkable fightback by England, reducing Pakistan to 137-8 at the close, a lead of 244. Ben Stokes was even handed the ball and managed to pick up two wickets. Pakistan still favourites but England have given themselves a chance.

How much longer before buttler gets dropped 3 missed catches in two days I would say quite a while after today.
If you take it from when Ben Stokes came on to bowl last evening, the last 24 Hours saw a huge turnaround. Even so when England were 117-5 needing 160 runs (with Pakistan rated 85% certainties to win) on a pitching doing all sorts it looked a hopeless case.
But Buttler (75) & Woakes (84no) changed all of that in an incredible last 3.5 hours of play; putting on a stand of 139 to completely change the game.
That was an absolute joy to watch.

Magnificent effort from England. Great innings from Buttler after the match he'd had up to that point and the innings of Chris Woakes' career.
This was England's first win in the first test of a series since the tour of Sri Lanka in 2018.

Ben Stokes is to miss the rest of the Pakistan series for family reasons. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/53712110England all-rounder Ben Stokes will miss the remainder of the Test series against Pakistan for family reasons, it has been announced. Stokes has played all four Tests so far this summer, captaining his country in Joe Root's absence in the first, the series opener against West Indies. But the 29-year-old will fly to New Zealand later this week, said the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). He was born in the country, where his parents Ged and Deb still live. A statement from the ECB said: "He will miss England's two Test matches against Pakistan at the Ageas Bowl on Thursday 13 August and Friday 21 August. "The England and Wales Cricket Board, along with the Stokes family, requests that all media respects the family's privacy at this time." The England squad were due to leave Manchester, site of their three-wicket win over Pakistan in the first Test, and head to Southampton on Sunday. Sussex bowler Ollie Robinson has linked up with the side.
