Midweek update after 12 votes, the current leading song is less than a maximum score ahead of second. Second and third place are pulling away from the midfield,the bottom 3 are falling slightly behind the midfield.

I had 2003 as the 2nd worst year of the 00s for music after 2009, and 2004 and 2006 as by far the strongest. I think it's more of what songs from the year people chose. This list contains 3 NM #1s, plus some #2s and other hits, and what is probably the most obscure song in here was an NM top 20 hit.
2003 was definitely one of the strongest years for me. It's one of the two where I lost out on my first choice, and the entries also include one I didn't shortlist but considered. And that's not to mention the song that got my top vote which, although I know it well, wasn't even on my radar!
I would have been quite content to give almost half of the songs in this contest 0/10 (and one a big negative score). A big contrast to 2002 where almost every song could have been a big scorer from the Milliways jury.
