As it's nearly Christmas let's bring in Bruce Springsteen. I can't find a video of the version we all know but he did this live for a long time and it was a hit long after he'd recorded it. But it was my Christmas #1 of 1985

Adam Lambert - Believe
Great job live, and in front of Cher too...

Tori Amos has introduced me to some amazing songs and artists via her covers over the years. Hard to narrow them down but my favourites are:
Rattlesnakes (by Lloyd Cole and the Commotions)
Famous Blue Raincoat (by Leonard Cohen)
Smells Like Teen Spirit (by Nirvana)
Do It Again (by Steely Dan)
Whole Lotta Love (by Led Zeppelin)
Landslide (by Fleetwood Mac)
Also love Tori's version of Case of You by Joni Mitchell but can only find poorly recorded live versions online

Having turned up in the 1995 topic this song was originally done by Betty Hutton (at least I think that's the original).

Betty Hutton is a cover too - the original is by Horst Winter “Und Jetzt Is Es Still” - but it’s the first English translated version I think.
The Bjork video is brilliant.

I'm not the biggest fan of Madonna but I love this cover of "Like A Virgin" that Teenage Fanclub did for their "The King" album. I even requested this as "Tune Of The Unexpected" on Janice Long's Radio 2 show back in 2011, and she did indeed play it.

I've always liked the Stone Roses debut album, and of course this song was what opened the album. This version of "I Wanna Be Adored" by the Raveonettes is just wonderful

This, in my opinion, is a pretty superlative cover of the Donna Summer classic.

The Tv series Stalker threw up a few good haunting covers.
Below a couple of my favourites:
Michelle Branch - Creep
Lo-Fang - Your'e The One That I want
Claire Gueresso - Tainted Love
Leelou - Don't you forget about me
Denmark and Winter - Every Breath You Take
Wrongchilde - Love Is A Battlefield
Denmark and Winter - Do You Really Want To Hurt Me

Just heard this version and sounds good. Originally done by Simon and Garfunkel.

Done for a Eurotrash celebration of Eurovision, and the last note basically makes the whole thing...

Song For Eurotrash was brilliant. I’m sure I’ve posted this before, but going to post it again anyway..

The trouble with the Bananarama version is that it seemed to borrow a heck of a lot from this particular version...

I don't remember this from the time, unusually for me, but it went top 10 in the States.
Naked Eyes included the gravel-hating part of Climie Fisher.
